Video Game Terms

I must admit that I am still learning video game terms. My recent trip Edwards 1CC log for SHUMPS, had me question what 1CC stands for. It was here that I first came across the term SHUMPS. New words are added/made up all the time and there's one thing that rains true for most of them. Don't ask what these words mean while playing online with other people. Apparently this is not aloud and will be met with ,"you are a stupid noob, why don't you go play with your mother!"

Well then...I don't want to do that, my mom's games are boring. But to keep this happening from to others, here is a quick list of some of the more popular game terms and their meanings.

Some terms that refer to types of games.
RTS - Real Time Strategies. Some games include Red Alert, Starcraft, Pixel Junk Monsters

FPS - First Person Shooters. Some games include Halo, Killzone, Call of Duty, Battlefield

RPG - Role Playing Game. Some games include Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Phantasy Star

MMO or MMORPG - Massive Multiplayer Online - Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing
Game. Some games include World of Warcraft, World of Heros, Heroes of Newerth

SHUMPS - Shoot em ups. Some games include Gradius, 1942, Axelay

Then there are the ingame terms that people use on other players, mostly online gaming. All of which I had no idea what was being said to me. In fact the first time I was called a noob, it was typed to me in Medal of Honor battlechest teamchat.

Noob/Newb/Newbie - All mean the same thing. Its a first time player to a game. So if you log into Halo for the first time or make a beginners mistake, it won't take long for someone to call you a newb.

Pwned - When another player kills another player, usually in a cool awesome fashion. But this term is thrown around willy nilly (willy nilly- a term I use to express a term that is used thoughtlessly.)

Campers - Some who sits and waits for opponents to come to them. But with the invention of the kill cam it makes it a little less harder for people to stay hidden for long. But frikken camping snipers are the worse.

Spawn killers - Most games have made it so people can't spawn camp anymore. But if you have opposing teams, each has a base. The opponent hides at the other teams base and shoots people has they spawn back into the game. I've played countless games where you spawn, die, spawn, die and I don't know who thinks this is fun?

FF - Not so much a issue now, but it stands for Friendly Fire. So you hear people shouting, watch the FF. I used to think people were cursing me twice. Watch the Fuck Fuck. Didn't make sense then either.

Sharking - I've only seen this on one console online game and mostly on PC. But its basically cheating. A person sets up in the code that his person will look like a dead person to all other players. So it looks like a dead person sliding along the ground, its the cheapest kill you can get. There are a ton of these types online with older PC games.

Leggers/Legging -This term I use to hear alot playing the older Mech Warrior online. Its when you pick the smallest fastest mech class while other pick the big monster mechs. What you do is run around the big mechs staying out of firing range because you are faster- and just shoot their legs. Its annoying has hell but its not cheating.

I'm sure there are other terms out there, but those are the ones that I hear the most. I still don't know what 1CC stands for Edwards SHUMPS, but I will find out soon and report in the comments.

Juggernaut in Games

One of my favorite villains is Juggernaut and although I like to see him in his own game which will never happen or already has and it was called "The Hulk".

But there are plenty of games that you do get to play him and I guess I will have to he happy with that, and I am. I just like the raw physical power that is the Juggernaut(not Vinne Jones Juggernaut)

So here are some games that have Juggernaut has boss/playable character/immovable wall.

Spiderman and Xmen-Arcade's Revenge
. Wolverine Vs Juggernaut. I hated this level, when I first played this game, this was the only level in the entire friken game I couldn't get past.

X2 Wolverine's Revenge. Wolverine seems to like his revenge, this is possible the best Wolverine game to date. Juggernaut loses due to being stupid,"Stop moving little MAN!!"

Then there are all the fighting games. The most popular ones are the Marvel Vs Capcom 1and 2(will he be in 3?-I hope) Streetfighter Vs X-men, X-men Mutant Academy 1 and 2, Marvel Super Heroes, X-men children of the Adam.

Then you get to play him has the top down beatem ups like X-men Legends 2 and the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. He shows up has a boss only in X-men Legends 1. I do enjoy all the extra costumes that you can play in him. In the legends game anyway. Stupid MUA 2.

Then he shows up in arcade but they gave him a bazooka, which makes no sense. Why not give superman a shotgun. Skip to 4:00 to see him in action-Now with Bazooka action!

There are a few other games that I'm sure he shows up in, but I couldn't find any videos or images of him in those particular games.

A side note, what's the deal with juggernaut saying "I'm the Juggernaut Bitch!". They say it in the 3rd X-men movie but I heard it long before that. It seems to have stuck with him. Food for thought.

Wii Teaches Kids How to Please a Woman

What the hell is wrong here?! Am I missing something here? This game is just wrong on so many levels. I'm not a prude, but if this type of game came out when I played games on my NES, I'm pretty sure all my friends be doing all kinds of inappropriate things with the wii remote..

I'm pretty sure fat people like massages too! What about some hairy guy? I think this massage parlor is discriminatory or has one hell of a client list. Hot girl who likes to race cars, hot girl who is getting married, hot girl who apparently is driving a Tron bike, hot girl going to war, etc.

SSF4 - Dhalsim Trials: MY ASS!!

I started playing Super Street Fighter 4 recently and wanted to get back into the groove, so to practice I started doing the character trials. Which is basically a set number of moves strung together into a combo. Now I am not a SF newbie, I can pull off all the special moves and all the super moves.

But holy F-Ballz, did they tweak the controls to be too sensitive for the Super SF? For the life of me I can't do any of his combo's. At first I thought my controller wasn't being responsive so I tried my other controller and then a 3rd controller. All of them handled the same way, I hit the button and and nothing would happen.

It was infuriating, so I went online to look for help. Of course the help videos are useless. Unlike other games where you can see what the other person is doing to beat a specific part. Fighter games are different, sure I can see you doing it. But fighter games are all based on timed button presses, so unless I know when you are pressing the button or how fast you are pressing the button. You might has well watch paint dry. For example, watch this video.

So that's great, I just watched all the moves being done. BUT, it shows me nothing about technique. It is absolutely useless and this is the type of videos that you see all over the net.

Here is a video that is sort like what needs to be done, except that its done with a arcade stick and really doesn't explain what you are doing. From the look of it I see some frantic little motions with the stick and then button presses. Still not helpful, but better than the previous video.

What you need to see are videos like this one, which is so fantastic. Its how all fighting game videos should be done. It shows me how fast you really need to move and exactly what motion is being done.

This is how fighting help videos should be done. I mean I did not know how to do a hadoken until a friend of mine showed me how I should be moving my fingers over the directional pad. I was doing it wrong, its all about technique and if you are trying to learn it on your own, its maddening. It makes complete sense for someone who doesn't know the game and are trying to do the simple moves, to just give up. I literally saw people pressing forward, down, forward in controlled presses trying to do the fireball move. But no one says that you have to do it ridicules fast.

I plan on making a video on explaining my troubles a little further.

What's it Gonna Cost to Play DC Online?

This is what always deterred me from playing a MMO. Sure they are really starting to get my attention and all. But its the cost to play online, is it really worth it? Depends on whom you ask? I already pay for a internet connection, plus full price for the game AND you want to charge me $14.99 a month to play the game.

And that's what gets me, if I only buy 1 month, I can never again pick it up down the road to have a quick play without shelling out another $15. I was really pumped about the trailer and the content. But the way I play games I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game. I enjoy going back to my older titles, but this one would be locked out to me.

I think what I have discovered is that there ARE different types of gamers out there. I am not a MMO gamer. Yeah, they look fun, but I think I will stick with what works for me.

My 14th Platinum - Resident Evil 5 : Gold Edition

When this game first came out, I had no intention of playing it. It was one of those that had a horrible demo and the controls did not help it one bit. But Like I said in previous post, if you can make it past the controls there is a great game underneath.

How difficult was it to get platinum in this game? I think it was average, it wasn't hard, it wasn't easy and had a couple grind moments.

If you are going to hunt through these trophies, then the ones that are going to stand out are "beat the game on professional" and "upgrade all your weapons." But what I found, that if you save doing "upgrade your weapons" for last, its not that hard -AT ALL! So just play the game normally while you trophy hunt. When you finally get down to the last 2 trophies, beating the game on professional nets you a shit ton of cash which helps with the upgrading of your weapons.

At the end of the professional mode I had 4 guns that still needed upgrading. I spent 15 min farming money on level 5-2 by killing the lickers in the hallway and then quitting and saving selling my treasures and the continuing from my last save. I did this for 15 -20min and was able to upgrade my last 4 guns. BUT when you first look at this task, it does seem daunting-which it is if you start with that task and say,"I am going to upgrade all my guns before I do the rest". Then yes, it will take a long time. But save it for last and its no problem at all.

I had a great time playing this game. Not one trophy felt like a chore, each play through was fun and played differently due to new weapons and upgrades. It was a great game and really fun co-op!

Beating Resident Evil 5 on Professional

This game has alot to do extra wise. I could go into all kinds of details but most people already know about them. But one that people, myself included , tend to shy away from is beat the game on its hardest setting. Well with RE5, its the professional setting.

Is it hard? Damn straight, its the typical one hit kills scenario. But at this point in the game you should have a good idea what's coming up. But here are some tips to make professional so much easier, not a BREEZE but easier.

First, in order for you to get to professional mode you have to beat the game in veteran(hard) mode. You could try and do professional mode now, but you be insane. If you don't want to do these tips then you are going to have a hell of time beating the game on its hardest settings. So do this first, for your own sanity.

1)Go to normal or easy mode and beat the game in under 5 hrs. Don't bother picking up items or killing enemies, just run run run. You can literally beat most levels in under 10 min just by running through them. I did it with a time of 3 hrs 15 min, well under the 5 hr time frame.By doing this you unlock the infinity ammo rocket launcher.

Now this is good, but not too good for close quarters combat when you get surprised or ambushed, firing your rocket launcher at close range usually results in death. Now you can try to do professional mode with just the rocket launcher but its still rather difficult.

2)To help make your life much easier, buy/collect the first MAG gun(the one that looks like Dirty Harry gun) When you get that upgrade it its fullest potential with the money you collect playing up to this point. Once you do that, you unlock the the S&W 500-MAG. With a whopping 5000 damage points. Then get more money by redoing older stages to fully upgrade that gun.

Once you fully upgrade the S&W 500-MAG, go to the bonus menu and buy the unlimited ammo for that gun and give it to your partner. It now makes what ever they shoot at one hit kills, this is a big help, a SUPER big help.(remember to turn unlimited ammo on when choosing level)
This should make your life easier if you want to try professional. But if you really want to make your life more easier on the hardest setting.

3)Do everything I said in hint 2 but now with the shotgun and get the Hydra, but really any shotgun should suffice. What you want to do is have a wide spread gun that you can use in close quarters for times when things get thick. You can knock them back on their ass and give you time to back up and use the rocket launcher and get rid of them fast.

4)I don't know if the bullet and melee vest help on professional mode, but I did outfit both my characters with both.(This requires you to go back and replay levels to get money to buy these extras)

5)Don't stand your ground if enemies are charging at you, they can kill you in one hit and if you do survive you get maybe 2 secs before you die, often not enough time for your partner to save you. Sheva is basically useless on professional mode, only if she is right next to you does she manage to save you in time. Even then, she shouts that she is going to save you, but shoos a baddies instead, then I die. Good job ding bat!!

6)Collect has many herbs has you can and combine red and green herbs, they give you more life then just green and green herbs. Fill yours and your partners inventory with healing herbs. If you do get hit and are brought back to life, its better to have full life and not just barely breathing while you hobble away.

7)Run, if you can make it through a part and don't have to kill baddies. Do that, other wise you are wasting your time and probable valuable herbs trying to get through a part.

That's about it, yes it takes some time to build up all that stuff, you just can't jump into professional mode and go. But even if you didn't use the unlimited ammo , I don't know how you would make it through the game. Enemies take a shit load of bullets and you rarely come across ammo. In 75% of the barrels I found money and not bullets, I guess they expect you to do alot of melee attacks?

Either way, you are in for a knee slapping good time! Good Luck!

Batman:The Brave and the Bold

I would totally play this game, but its only for the Wii and DS. I don't own a Wii, my kid does. I wouldn't want to play it on the DS, too small. Yet another reason for me to get a Wii, the first one is Monster Hunter Tri.

4 New Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Characters

I can't wait for this game, not because I am good at it, oh no sir. I suck the big one playing this game, at least compared to the seasoned veterans of the series. But I do enjoy mashing buttons, those pretty, pretty buttons.

And the final new character, TRISH..wow. Trish. I don't like her, I knew a girl growing up named Trish and she was an totally Turd Face.

Ultimate Spiderman- Really!?

So they finally release what the last Spiderman world will be and I must say that so far all 3 are pretty unique in their own way. But they did exactly what I said they would do way back in a post I did weeks ago.

I said that I hope they just don't do the Spiderman in the black symbiotic suit, we've all seen it in every Spiderman game and quite frankly getting boring has hell. So anything besides this ONE suit will be good.
What do they do,..yup,that's right! cop out and give us that damn black suit!! We've seen this suit a million times, why not mutated Spiderman, or Spidergirl, Scarlet Spider, IronSpider, X-world Spider, Zombie Spiderman. So many possibilites that they could have done that we haven't seen before and they go back to what we've seen again and again.

For something that went on as long has it did hyping it up again and again, this is a big disappointment. BOOOOO!!! I don't care if its a different setting, its no different than playing any other game and moving on to the next level of clown world. Well 1 out of 3 isn't bad, but this is the reason we haven't had a good Spiderman game in forever. People are afraid to take chances. But lets see what the game turns out to be.

DC Universe Beta Registration

I saw this and thought I pass it on to anyone else who is interested. I'm never excited about a Beta, but I know that soon I will be playing my first MMO. Will it be starwars, will it be this? Maybe the Beta will help me decide, "IF" I get selected. I'm not holding my breath, but if you are interested in signing up by all means. Do so, and if you get selected, please give me a update, good, no good.

Click here to sign in, its easy and very painless.

New Stuff to Wonder About

I must say that I am enjoying this lull in new games that interest me. I can catch up on some of my older titles. But that's not to say that I still look, both these trailers are pretty cool. But I don't know if the darkspore is a spin off the Spore games?

I LOVE the look of the heroes for DC Universe!!

My Conversation with BlindBoy

So since game sharing has hit, I have been sent request for people to add me to game share. Which is usually followed by me deleting and blocking this person with no comment back to them, I treat it like junk mail/spam.

But last night, I get a request to add Blindboy followed by a comment,"please add me". Sure I'll add you, but like I do with all my request I like to know how you found me. Did you find my sign in name on the Internet, through some game community or friend of a friend? Even if it is just a random add, I don't mind doing that for some friendly online gaming with new gamers.

Which I was met with the response,"Whot to game share wit me?"

Normally I delete and Block and move on, not today sir....not today!!

So here is a transcript of our conversation. Picking up from his last comment above.

Darryl,"Are you just adding random people so you can ask them to game share with you?"

BlindBoy,"No, I was in the middle of a game and I couldn't answer you"

Darryl,"OK, that's cool. So where did you find my sign in info, I just like to know where people find me, on the web are you a friend of someone I know?"

BlindBoy,"So do you want to game share with me?"

Darryl,"What??......You want me to give you my personal sign in info and credit card info so you can download games that I paid 4?

BlindBoy,"Please game share with me"

Darryl," I don't even know you. How do I know that you wouldn't go into my account and mess with all my settings or max out my credit card buying all the games on the store. For all I know you are a crazy person"

BlindBoy,"I'm not like that, I wouldn't do that to anyone. See here is my sign in Info, Blindboy@yahoo.com password. XXXXXX"

Darryl," Don't do that!!! Don't go giving out your sign in info to strangers. What if I turned out to be asshole and went in and messed with your account?? You be screwed.

BlindBoy,"Please game share, I just want Fat Princess"

Darryl," I don't know how old you are, but giving out your personal sign in info to complete strangers is the stupidest thing that you can do.

BlindBoy, "I do it all the time, please game share with me"

Darryl,"Game share is meant for close friends and family members, not random strangers you meet online. I asked in the beginning did you only add me to game share? If you want to add so we can play online, that's fine?

BlindBoy,"Are you going to game share with me"

Darryl,"It appears that all you want is to game share. I don't' game share with strangers and nether should you, its very dangerous to give out your info online especially to strangers. You are taking a big risk! Unfortunately I don't want to be a part of that either, so good luck with gaming. I am going to delete and block you now"

And there you go, why did I have this conversation and not just delete him to begin with. It did appear that this person was either a kid or someone with less mental capabilities than the average potato.

I was hoping that maybe I talk some sense into him/her and he/she realize that game sharing with strangers and giving out your personal info is dangerous.

The guy/girl(wtf, we all know its a guy) gave me his sign in info for crying out loud. I still have it, I could go into his account and fuck him over completely!! What's wrong with people?!!!

I thought his name was great has a metaphor of his behavior, Blind has a bat to what he was doing, Blind Boy indeed.

I did change his name, his real sign in name was BlindBoy followed by some random numbers which I left out incase people read this and wanted to troll him. Which he probable needs.

Pixel Junk Monsters - PSN

This game has been out for awhile now and most everyone I talked too said that it was a great game. Well I think all those people must have been somewhat of a RTS fan, I think you have to be to a certain degree. Sure this game is cute enough to be a regular fun time. But then you get to a point and you just die and die.

And I don't mean dieing on the harder levels, No I mean dieing on Easy Level 1-4 or Level 1-3. Sheesh, shouldn't I be flying through these levels. Why do I keep dieing??

I said before that I think am missing some fundamental game mechanic that makes me horrible with any RTS. All other RTS's that I have played were on the PC and normally I use the give me infinity money cheat and just keep building and building.

Well, I had enough of this I wanted to know what I was doing wrong. So I went looking, and guess what? I found out some very important things that really makes the difference between winning and dieing really fast.

1)Knowing What's Coming Next.
There is no way around this pain in the butt. You HAVE to know what is coming next, what wave of enemies are going to show up now, how many? Sure it shows you what is going to be the NEXT enemy, but like chess, this is not good enough. You have to prepare 3-4 waves in advanced. If you are currently building ground towers for ground enemies and the next wave are flyers. You build a couple of anti air towers, and the next couple of waves are ground units.

So you spend your time upgrading and building ground units. Then all of sudden the next round is flyers again. But you only have 2 air towers and none of them are upgraded. So you frantically build a few more air towers and try to upgrade if you can. But by this time, its too late. If only I had known about these 4 moves ago.

AND KNOWING 3-4 moves ahead DOES mean the difference between winning and failure.

2) UpGrading Towers Instead of Building More
I would mainly spend my time building 8 ground towers and upgrading when I can.But yet, I still was dieing. What you should do, is build 2-3 towers and upgrade them to Max ,asap!!
This is me trying to put up a good defense, I figure a lot of towers is better than a few. But you be surprised how effective a fully upgraded tower is compared to many 1st level towers.
Again, knowing what comes next really helps with what to upgrade next.

3) Selling Towers
This is something that I never done. I just spend half the round upgrading this tower only to tear it down and build something different. BUT AGAIN, this is made easier by knowing what's coming 3-4 rounds ahead.

But I always feel that I spent time into it, I will just leave it there and build around it. But you be surprised the difference ONE tower made in a game. It really is that picky.

So overall, knowing what enemy is coming next is the THEME here. So these games are alot trial and error. But once you do know what enemies are coming next, holy cow. The game went from being frustrating to fun. What a difference, it was like getting glasses for the first time, "I CAN SEE"

Even on the later harder levels, I was having trouble and still knowing what was coming up next didn't help. At the harder levels it was very strongly dependent on placement of towers. A little to the left or right which shows their attack radius means enemies get destroyed or the enemies walk outside your attack radius unharmed. The harder levels were more frustrating, but more satisfying has well when you finally did finish it.

I realize that I didn't talk about the game itself, but more or less what I was doing wrong. I WAS playing the game wrong. It was like I was playing a FPS but only using the right analog stick to move. Kinda makes it hard to play like that!

BUT after I learned how to play the game correctly, the game was very fun and enjoyable and can be played with two players. I really like the art style and the music is very cutesy. I didn't like it enough to buy the DLC maps. But for fans of RTS's, you probable won't be disappointed, for everyone else.... Its a great title and worth the discounted price that it is currently selling at.

Heres a video on how to beat one of the more difficult levels. Don't waste time, alwasy be doing something.

Glitchy-MC GEE

Every or at least most games have glitches, some games are worst than others. It usually happens when a game has not had the proper prep time, not enough time to code it or game testing. But even some of the better games have insane glitches, but the people who figure these out are a breed among themselves. Seeking out weird and crazy shit that normal gamers would never even think of doing. So here are some videos of games doing some weird shit.

MK 1, sheesh I was lucky if I could pull off the Finish Him move.

Who test this stuff, who actually sat around and said, I wonder if we can get in the tank.

Red Dead Redemption has some of the funniest glitches I've seen, I have to get this game soon.

Yeah, I had alot of people falling through the floor in Bioshock aswell.

Seems ole Bats likes a little peek a boo

Gamers Have Needs Too

Just thought it was funny that this ad that promotes this flashlight with a a rubber vagina stuffed into it is paired up with lube(of course) and World of WarCraft. This is too funny to be true, but if you click the link ,which takes you to Amazon .You can see all the other things that go along with the fleshlight.

My favorites are Godzilla and the Fleshlight, DragonBall Z and the Flesh light and or course whats a rubber vagina stuffed into a flash light case smothered in lube while you watch Godzilla and Episodes of Dragon Ball z while you troll dungeons has some night elf and not be wearing a vibrating penis ring. That's like going out in public without pants,I mean comon.

Effects of 3D Gaming?

So Sony is pushing hard to bring in a new era of home entertainment with its 3D TV's. Currently like most new tech, its expensive has hell and the average consumer won't be filling his/her house with them.

There are complaints about all the extra accessories that come with the set up, what do I need, what don't I need, what connects to what. This doesn't bother me, because I won't be getting a 3D TV to begin with. Not because of the price or all the extra bits, but because we don't know enough about the actual effect of long term 3D gaming.

I already have mild bouts of vertigo when playing a FPS, not alot but enough that I do notice it when it does happen. Even when watching a 3D movie in theatre I will have at least a moment or two where whoa, "ITS 3D, it feels like I'm MOOOVING"

There are others who have more extreme effects of nausea and vomiting and this is just from a 2-3 hr experience. So far this year I have seen 3 3D movies, so that comes out to spending between 5-6 hrs of watching 3D in a year. But if I bring 3D home with me where it applies to movies and gaming. Now we are in new territory that no one has ever been before.

Currently I play 2-4 hrs 4-6 days a week playing games. That's 8-24 hrs a week or 416-1248 hrs a year. That's just for me, think about the people who play 6-8 hrs a day, 7 days a week or more, that's alot of 3D gaming. That's just video games, home movies will be pushing to be 3D aswell.

So Sony has released a statement warning people about watching 3D TV. Really, there could be side effects?? no duh Einstein,

Sony says
"SCEA recommends that all viewers take regular breaks while watching 3D video or playing stereoscopic 3D games. The length and frequency of necessary breaks may vary from person to person. Please take breaks that are long enough to allow any feelings of discomfort to subside. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor."

"SCEA recommends that you consult your doctor (such as a pediatrician or eye doctor) before allowing young children to watch 3D video images or play stereoscopic 3D games. Adults should supervise young children to ensure they follow the recommendations listed above."

Yeah, I will do just that, in fact I will just stay away from that altogether. It says that children under 6 should stay away from 3D altogether since they are still developing their cognitive skills and 3D visuals can mess with that. Good thing all these kids movies aren't in 3D or we have a problem.

XBox in the BILLIONS!

Microsoft has released its report for last year profits with Xbox Live Gold Memberships. They have made a crazy 1.2 BILLION. At $50 a year, that comes out to 24 million subscribers. That's alot!! Make no wonder Sony finally wants to cash in on a piece.

Resident Evil 5 : Gold Edition- PS3

I wanted to get a Co-op game for some time now. One that I could sit down with a friend in the same room and have fun. Well, Resident Evil 5 is that specific game, it was made to be played with 2 players. Sure you have the option to play single player, but that's where the game falls apart. THIS GAME IS YOUR TRUE 2 PLAYER EXPERIENCE!!

Bur first lets get some burning thoughts outta the way.

If you had to pick 2 things that you fight in this game, what would they be? Zombies?? Umm..sure kinda, the RE5 have moved away from classic zombies has of late and end up shooting infected crazies. The other thing that you have to fight in this game are THE CONTROLS!!!!!

Good GoD!! Did the guys deciding how to set up the controls WANT to make people yell and scream!! You can't just dive in without the controls making you feel like you aren't mildly retarded. Granted!! after playing the game for some time, the controls do become more manageable, but it shouldn't be like this. It shouldn't feel like I am constantly fighting the controls, which this game does is spades and hearts and boxer briefs.

Even now that I have played the game through twice, I still find myself grabbing items when I want to punch or trying to turn a nozzle when I want to spin and run away. I don't remember RE4 being this hard to control, or has all the FPS spoiled me?

The other thing that just makes this game boggle the brain is your partners AI. Sheva is has helpful has Epileptic with a chainsaw. Sure shes a great help when she's pointed in the right direction, but try getting her to give you a grenade when a the time calls for it? Its not going to happen!!

She's like a walking extra suit case with the brain of Paris Hilton. Sure i'm glad shes here so I could stuff her with all this extra ammo, but for the love of God get off your ass and help me out over here!! She's particular useless when just finished a task and a new area opens up, but you want to go kill a final few beasties or collect a certain treasure. SHE WILL NOT MOVE!! or trade or do nothing that is even remotely helpful during this time. She is fixated like a dog with a bone about moving on.

So what do I do, I bring the baddies to her, hoping she will lend a hand. What does she say to me when I try to get ammo from her,"not now" or "Are you kidding". For the love of God, I'm not asking you for sex, I just want some God Damn bullets!!!

BUT, this is where the 2 player comes in. It is clear that this game is made to be played 2 player and nothing else. It is a great time with 2 players and I can attest to playing with Ian on HARD for one particular round. We played the DLC levels where one had us walking around the old mansion from the first RE with some great scare moments and then the more frantic run for you life with Josh and Jill from RE5. It was a great time, I don't know if it was fun or I just enjoyed Ian's frantic screams for his life.

Overall, this is a great game with some really broken parts. I did enjoy the gameplay and the story and it has ALOT of extra tidbits that can really keep you busy. The Gold Edition is well worth the $44.99, you get alot for your buck. And although those 2 things are annoying, its not a game killer.
I am still playing it, doing all the extra DLC and trophy hunting and am having a good time doing so. Its unfortunate that the controls are what offputs alot of people from this game. Everyone I talked too who played the demo really didn't like it at all and it does take some time to get used to the controls. But if you can tough it out for a bit, the game is well worth. MUCH BETTER than my original thoughts when I played the demo.

HAHAHA, lots of head blowems ups!

PS3 Breaks Even

Released from Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Head, Yoshida stated today that the PS3 has finally broke even. Quote,"We aren't making money from hardware, but we aren't bleeding like we used too".

He also said that there will be no new price cuts in the near future, instead they will be focusing on selling bundles.

They attribute PS2 sales has helping them get out of the trouble they were in. Which probable means no new backward compatible added to the PS3. Why would they get rid of a money maker while it is still selling on the market. Every PS2 sold is a profit for Sony.

Good for them, I wonder if they are making ANY money on the PS3 or are they still losing? I don't know. I like to give up to date Xbox 360 stats aswell, but I didn't hear anything about that. I know the Wii is shitting money, so no worries about Nintendo.

What We Want and What We Get

When I was home recently, I was looking through my old game pro magazines has far back has 1994 and I got a really big kick outta alot of the articles. Especially ones promoting games that turned out to be horrible stinkers. But when the images first came out, all the articles were praising these games has the next big thing since butter. Butter has many uses.

So today, game developers use videos to help promote their games. So here are some videos praising a game that in the end turns out to be utter shit. I must say, they do a good job of lieing , or no body told them what they were actually talking about. Its not the video you are watching, its the dialogue, its priceless!! Pure Gold!!

The trailer alone is enough for Bombad racing.

Trust me, this is broken has hell!

For the most part, just look up a game and there is usually a video accompanying the mess that follows.

Holy Cow Mario

This can't be real? This has to be a animated game sequence, doesn't it?
Does this level really exist? If it does, then its just maddening, but I honestly don't think its real.

Choose for yourself.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Review

I"m BACK and smellier than ever!! Sniff, Sniff, smell that.....yeeaaaah, that's right!!

A while back I played Dawn of Sorrow from the Castlevania series, a big jump since the last time I played it (Simon's Quest) and what I found was I am disconnected from what the series is at that point(Dawn of Sorrow) and from what I remember playing.

So I was told and WANTED to play a different version of the franchise and had a overwhelming response to play "Symphony of the Night".
Well I had a chance to pop that in and unlike Dawn of Sorrow, this one is really good! I would chat about it, but anyone who is any gamer and not me, knows about this game already.

I'm late to the party on this one, in fact the tenants have moved out and Ma and Pa kettle have taken up resident and are upset that I want to come in and drink whiskey and eat coleslaw on their back deck.
I mean it has alot of similarities to dawn of sorrow, but for some reason, this one just makes sense, its F-U-N!!
I had a great time playing the game, and I think the main reason was I could progress through the main story line without having to hunt around the castle for something that I didn't know if I needed or not,so I could get past a situation that didn't explain what I had to do. I could get through the whole story without having to TRY every possible solution. So then, if I wanted to go back and find that secret passage, I could on my own time. I like that set up:)

So with that one completed and under my belt and being very satisfied with the game, do I dare continue on with the next one? Where is the actually turning point in the franchise where it goes from me enjoying myself to something where I want to throw the the game across the room?

Or should I just leave the franchise alone from here and jump ahead by 10 years or more and start anew? I am looking forward the new Castlevania for the Xbox/PS3, that looks pretty damn cool.

So if you haven't played Symphony of the Night, then you are a loser like me. So do yourself a favor and download the game from the PSN/XBLA.

Sword & Sorcery - iPod

Apparently, this has been kicking around the web for a while. It's the first I've heard of it, but I like the look of the game.

Seems it will be a point-and-click adventure too. Looks interesting and different to me!

The video starts off slow, but shows some interetsting stuff later on.

New Josh post

Well here I am.... posting something... anything... truth is I've been kinda broke lately so I really haven't been playing a lot of new games. I just completed Red Dead Redemption (100%) and I've been playing a lot of Battlefield... that's it.

I've also been behind on gaming news lately. E3 this year seemed painful and boring as both Sony and Microsoft showed off their Wii's and Nintendo just showed more of the same. Well not the 3DS that thing has me very curious. Other than that... shmeh

So... yep... still gaming, just not as much.

Here's a sweet pic for your hungry eyes!

ehhh?? ehhh?? it's Mario 3.... you know.... Mario.....3....

well that's all from me. I'll post something a lot more cool later.
