I'm a big fan of the old arcade games made a new with visuals and new gameplay. Pacman DX was amazing and although Galaga DX was made by the same people, it just not quite as good. Its still very entertaining, but doesn't hit the highs of Pacman.
The first thing that really stands out and brings back memories is the music. You hear that little song in the beginning and it all comes back to you.
The game as a new design and look, but you can choose all the different styles that Galaga has been made in the past year are here. Even a Pacman style, with all the enemies being ghost and your ship is Pacman. Its pretty cool.
The play has changed from just being enemies coming in from the top to being able to shoot in all directions. It really adds a new element to a otherwise dull gameplay. The points come pouring in when you get combo's and link your kills in to chains. Hit one thing that sets off another and another, so one shot can wipe out whole hoards of enemies. But you often have only a split second to hit that sweet spot, miss it and you have to do it the hard way.
This really plays an important part with the time trials portions of the game. Where every wave has to be taken out fast. And you mess it up and you won't hit your target.
Overall, I its a very enjoyable Shump, but it doesn't feel as full filling as pacman DX did. I think for fans of the game will enjoy it, but for anyone who didn't grow up in the era of Galaga, then they might want to pass.
I'm sure most of you are aware of Peta attack on Mario's tanooki suit, saying it promotes wearing fur. I just think its people with too much time on their hands.
Like that nosey neighbour who lives on your street poking her nose in everybody else business and complaining about it. She doesn't have a job, she's retired or stays at home all day just watching the rest of us while she complains about our garbage bin being too close to the road or she doesn't like the way we pile our leaves in the yard.
This lady doesn't exist in my neighborhood, we have crazy hippy lady instead.
Brings back memories, I wish he didn't have it on speed run though, make sit hard to see what he's doing. I do remember that it took me a few tries to bet the last guy. Took me 3 months to finish this game as a kid. Loved every min of it.
Seeing as I got this 3 weeks after launch because I ordered it in the mail, like most people who are fans of FPS and this particular series I was super excited to play this title, .
Lets be to the point with this.
Campaign - Its your standard single player campaign. I did wish that the QT events were a little more involved than just 1 button press. Some of them had 2 button presses, but more often I just felt like I was watching a movie, then had to press a button to continue. It didn't feel like it was part of the game and rather just press "X" to continue. I think they easily could have made them a little more involved. In the end, it was Okay, nothing spectacular, nothing horrible. Its what I expected besides the lame QT events.
I went through my first play through on Hard mode and it really is hard. But I found out rather quickly that certain sections of the game if you had your squad with you and your were having a hard time progressing. You could find a safe spot to hide and let them kill everything for you. Now this wasn't the case for all the missions. But more than once I passed a level by sitting back and letting my AI guys do all the work. Not for lack of trying on my part, though. I did try, but on hard mode, you could have a squad of 12 guys but all the enemy AI zero in on me like I'm the friggin plague.
Co-op - Never played it, but most co-op games are always fun. I'm hoping for nothing but good things from co-op mode when I start it.
Multiplayer - Boy!! do they ever got some fixing to do here.
Me and my cousin made a squad in the menu's. Regardless if we joined a game through Quickmatch or through the Browser games. We were met with problems on every single match until we both got fed up with it and quit. What happened was, upon being put into the game. The game either did these things...
1)Split us up from our squad and put us on different teams 2)Split us up from our squad and put us in different squads on the same team. 3) SPlit us up and not put us in any squad
All of which would disable our mics to each other. So even if we did reconnect in a squad, we couldn't hear each other. One time we could hear each other, but we weren't in the same squad and when we left the squads that the game put us in and joined each other, then we couldn't hear each other. Other times, our voices would be broken.
Other times with 3 players, 2 of the guys couldn't hear each other but both could hear me. But upon entering a game, their chat function worked fine while my game had all of is sound cut. It was like the TV went on mute. So I tried to quit to rejoin to fix the sound, but all that did was hard lock the game.
Other times, on 2 separate occasions the game reset all my stats to Zero, so I couldn't select the perks and gadgets I had unlocked. The only way I fixed this was to play an entire round using just my level 1 gear and upon finishing it, I would revert back to my normal level.
Other times I had the tanks "mostly", get stuck in the ground, one time the tank just started spinning around a rock. Other times I would park next to an embankment and the tank would slide around like it was on Ice. Not big hills either, these were little bumps in the road.
Overall, Online is a mess, BUT when it works, its great fun. But right now..I would have to say that BF2 is much better, but based on the fact that BF3 doesn't work half the time. Your okay if you just go online yourself and play, but playing with friends is just a pain in the ass. So I hope they fix it soon.
Overall, I can honestly say without a doubt that BF2 is better, for me that is. Maybe if they fix online, I will change my opinion.

They are releasing Darkstalkers on the PSN on NOV 29th. I am a big fan of this fighting game series and I think they need to reboot this franchise as well. With the fighting mechanics of the Street Fighter 4 but with a style all its own.
I do hope that they handle it like they they did with street fighter 3rd strike and not just release a mod of the old game. Here's my fingers crossed.
These games were awesome in the day, Tie Fighter, X-wing Vs Tie fighter, X-wing Alliance, Rogue Squadron, Leader, heck I even enjoyed the starfighter series that came out on the PS2, even though they weren't no where near as the PC counterparts.
But its about time they redid this series, give us some more....no more lego versions (I do enjoy the lego games) or Kinect type games.
Bahhaahhh....I would still feel bad. Especially if I plan on playing my character as a good guy. I can never do the bad guy road unless I've done the good side first.
I've mentioned this before, if you have never played a MMO then jumping into one, be aware you are going to banging your head on whats happening and how things flow.
Its not new gamer friendly and honestly," I can see none MMO gamers, trying this once, getting fed up with it and quitting and uninstalling it."
The only thing that kept me there and coming back was the content, its DC Universe. So here are some friendly new timer hints that I wish I knew when starting.
Chat function- Is it broken? does it work?...in short, it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't and when it does work it sounds like you are riding on a crowded bus going through a tunnel. Don't use it, get use to using the type function.
Legends PVP events 1- All the characters are locked until you talk to either hawkmen or martian man hunter( happens randomly at a certain level) They then give you a item that you must then go to your inventory and click on it to activate it. At which point it says you can play the PVP events...but you can't. You have to wait for a "in game" email from Robin which unlocks his character for the events. This email took 3 days before I got it. Some it happens sooner, even later. So don't worry if you don't get it day 1, give it a week.
Legends PVP events 2 - When you do unlock characters, you Queue up an event. Click on a event, lets say "Batcave" and click accept. Then exit the menu...when your time is up, you will be asked if you want to join the event you queued yourself up for.
Legends PVP events 3 - Buying extra characters. You buy your characters using a difference currency. Currency that you get from playing PVP events. If you lose you get 1 point, if you win you get 2 points. When you have enough, you can go to the War Room in the watch tower(located in the central hub) to spend your points on a new character.
Gotham - Where is Gotham or Metropolis? Gotham's entrance is located in the Tech Wing. Metropolis is located in Magic and Meta Wing.
Email - You have a in game email and you can email money and items to friends. Just type in their screen name.
Items - Many items, just because you collected them, doesn't mean that you get them right away. You have to open them up for them to become active. Much like emails, remember to accept your attachment in emails to claim your prize.
Missions - Remember that after you complete a mission, that you go back into the journal menu and click on the mission you just did to claim the XP and prize items. They will be in the "completed" section of that menu. If they aren't there, it means you have more to do with it.
Defense - R1 is block...use it, it helps.
Camera - I accidentally was messing with the buttons and screwed up my camera. To adjust your camera it, L1 plus the up and down directional buttons.
Talking - Press select to chat.
Costume - Don't forget to lock your costume so that equipping new items doesn't change the look of your character. You can also individual change different aspects of your costume. I love this part of the game.
I'm sure there is more, but these were the most annoying trying to figure out. If anything, its better to start the game with a friend who has already played it, it will save you days of head scratching headaches.
If I had one word of advice to new gamers. Even though its wide open and you can go anywhere and do alot of things. Stick to the path that the game lays our for you. If you follow the path, the game does show you everything. But it happens very slowly.
According to this chart, I fall in a very small percentage for the MMO that I play.
You average gamer like me, wouldn't notice anything like this, but if you are a hardcore fan like this guy. I guess you would notice that sort of thing. Makes you wonder if other studios do this and if so, I would like to see of their reuses as well.
As for MW3, myself personally always felt its was just a retooling of MW2. I really don't understand why its so big. Its not my cup of tea.
I guess when he goes on a rampage and kills everyone, its kinda going to be hard to deny that he wasn't influenced by video games when you make a video of you comparing yourself to video game cut scenes. All kidding aside, that's pretty impressive.
For me personally, I didn't know what I was going to see. But I have to think that its possible ranks up their with one of the worst things I've seen in a video game. Sure we have our Mortal Kombats, GTA's, but we know what were getting into. I mean whats next, are they going to start showing scenes with people getting their heads cut off with a butcher knife?!? Its too much for me, but that's just my opinion.
