There's been some reports of people having a hard time dowloading the free Welcome Back games or having issues with getting them.

Sony posted a way to get them differently.

Namco Museum Essentials - PSN

I love the old retro games. I have all of the PS2 titles and I fear that I will have to get them all again when they re-release them for the PS3. So when they released the Namco Museum Essentials for the PSN. My first response was, I already have those games and to pay $9.99 for 5 old retro games and 1 remake. It didn't seem worth it.

But I did break down and buy the package. Was it worth it? I think so, there are things that I don't like about it and other things which I think are pretty innovative.

For $10 you are getting Pacman, DigDug, Galaga, Xevious, Dragon Spirit and Xevious Resurrection, which is the remake. This really doesn't seem worth the cash for just 5 really really old games. But its what they add with it that kinda makes up for it.



For each game they offer stamps that you can collect. To collect these stamps, you have to do odd things in a game that you wouldn't do otherwise. Like in DigDug there is a stamp that you get by clearing the entire screen of all the dirt or finish a level without digging. In Pacman you can get one by getting 1600x2. That's eating a dot and getting all 4 ghost then eating another dot and eating all 4 ghost again. Its pretty challenging, but adds another element of gameplay to a game that really has been played to hell. Its those little challenges that I really like.

It has trophies, which are little icons of the game. They look pretty neat, especially for me who is a big retro gamer.

For those of you who like HOME, (god forgive you) all these stamps that you get gives you prizes that you can decorate your home with. So if you are big into home, lots of goodies are to be had.

An online leader board. Its cool to see how well you do compared to others who also like retro games. Really all it does it show me that I really suck compared to others who play all these games. When I say suck I mean the top score for Pacman is 3 million and something points. Compared to my 28,000 points. So I guess there's a strategy for Pacman that I am not aware of because I die alot in the 6th-8th levels. So I didn't know you could get scores that high.



All the games play really like the old games, horrible controls that make you want to rip your hair out, but really keeps authenticity to the games.

I don't know what I am doing wrong, but I couldn't play 2 player on Pacman or Digdug. So I don't know if a second person can join in and play, which sucks. I really like the going back and fourth between players. Not play an entire game then the other person plays, that just feels wrong.


But the overall look of the package is great. I really enjoy the style and feel for it. I would like for a retro theme be put out for the PS3. I would actually pay for a theme like that. There is a RETRO theme out already, but its not what it seems. Its just green pixel theme.

So overall, I really enjoyed what I got and am looking forward to completing the task.I hope they come out with more DLC, more games that I can add on later on. That would be great news for old retro gamers like me.



So if you are a fan of retro games but arn't up for all the add ons, then just stick with your old cart. I mean I am not getting the Marvel vs Capcom 2 re-release becase I already have it on PS2. But I also have these games too, but I enjoy the extra stuff. So, if you like all the extras, then you will be happy. If its just the game that interest you,then you won't be bothered by all the new goodies.

Burn Zombie Burn - PSN

I was looking for something new to download from the PSN store. Something that you can play for 15-20 min, have a good time and move on. The only thing I don't like about the PSN store, is that there are very few previews of the games that you can buy. So all you can see on the store, is the title and a brief description of the game. I think this is something that they really need to change in the store. I can safely say, that I will NOT buy a game based off a description alone. A little bit of game footage goes along way.

Needless to say I went online to look up some PSN games. The reviews and the video of Burn Zombie Burn, seemed quite interesting. Its essentially Super Smash TV but with Zombies.


This has all the Zombie goodness anyone would want in a little game like this. It has the lawnmower like in the Movie ,"Dead Alive". The chainsaw, like in Evil dead, infact you could say that a few of the weapons are from evil dead, the chainsaw and the boomstick. Tons of weapons offer a great variety of ways to dispatch your enemies. The bat, while really slow, sends your baddies flying towards the screen, much like the old ninja turtle game, Turtles in Time, when they fought Shredder.



One thing that confused me was the select weapon choice. I thought that you could collect weapons and they would be in an inventory, but really what it is, it just replaces the weapon that you have. What the weapon select button does is just shows you were the next weapon is located on the map. duuhhhhh!!!



Anywho, you can set Zombies on fire, they run away from fire, but you get more points when they are on fire and give you better power ups for your bombs. There are numerous zombies types, fast, slow, big, poisons, explosive. What you have to do is survive has long has you can, defeating wave after wave of zombies. Once you get the controls down, its really quite fun.

Best thing about it, is that it has co-op. So you and a friend can see how long you can survive the onslaught on enemies. Which is good, because you can watch each other backs. Bad, that you share lives. So I played with friends this weekend, and I didn't die at all, while my friends used all 3 lives.(Ian and Joe) But again, this can be fixed with getting used to the controls.



My only complaints is that this could have been a great game to play co-op online. Alas, there is no online play, only online leader boards. It also takes sometime to get used to the chaos on the screen, "where am i?" was a big thing with me. The game can be has hard or has easy has you want it. With 3 different modes, survival, protect, and bomb the hell outta that thing mode.

Which makes the trophies half and half. The ones that you can get are relative easy to do. While the harder ones, requires you to play for up to 4 hrs without dieing. That's nuts.



Overall, the game is great to play alone and with friends. A great price($9.99) and it keeps you entertained. I guess its like Left for Dead's little cousin.

KillZone2 - Multiplayer - PS3

So I dove into KillZone 2 Multiplayer and that's pretty much all I've been playing for the past week.
My overall feelings about Killzone 2...its ok, but I didn't think it was better or worse than Resistance 2 online. They both have their positives and negatives. But all I'm going to blab about is Killzone's pros and cons.

The game play is just has fun has any other multiplayer, its what they add to it is what makes it different. Here they give you ranks like COD4 and Resistance 2, the higher you go, the more classes you unlock and the more abilities you can unlock along with weapons and point bonuses. Its really good with all those aspects of the game. It really gives you alot to look forward too when playing and adds a great diversity to the overall gameplay.

There are 5 different modes,
1)Body count - which team gets the most kills
2)Assassination - Kill a single person on the opposing team or keep your guy alive.
3)Blow up a another teams base or defend from getting it blown up.
4)Hold and defend- there are 3 different spots on the map, you have to hold and defend from the opposing team.
5) Search and retrieve - Find an item and drop it off at a set location.

Each one of those, whether you are defending or attacking, both can give you a ribbon, which if you get 8 ribbons in each class, you get a medal which unlocks a new ability or bonus of some sort.



That part I particularly like. Some classes are defiantly harder to get your ribbons with than others and eventually you get into a game where the majority of people are just using rockets everywhere.

Its gets pretty easy to rack up kills by setting up in a area where the enemy pours out of a entrance way and shoos a rocket in there and get 2-3 kills with each rocket. But luckily its not just kills that get you points to rank up. Each time you use an ability or do any of the things mention above also gets you points.


So I enjoyed the game play. What I don't like about it is the view friend stats. In resistance 2 I can go in and see anyone of my friends or other players stats, what medals they got, all their info is listed. On killzone (and perhaps I'm an idiot and haven't found it yet..but) all is listed in my friends stats is their rank. They rank 9405 out of 170,059. That's it! I like going into other peoples stats and seeing how my friends are doing. Again, perhaps I'm missing it somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.

The other thing which I never encountered before in any online PS3 gaming are game freezes. 2 times that it happened, there was alot of shit happening on screen at once, explosions, people all over the place, shadows, butt load of stuff. Then the game froze, and not just the game, I couldn't turn the system off, nothing. I had to manually flip the switch on the system to get it to restart. This is the first time I had anything like that happen.

The trophies for online, which I don't really agree with. The top 2 trophies are silver, come in the top 3 % of all players for that week and gold, come in the top 1% of all players for that week. How can anyone compete with people who do nothing but play video games all day and night and all weekend long. I play maybe 2-3 hrs a night every 1-2 days. I will never see those trophies.

Which brings up the gripe I have with most online trophies, if I have to compete with online harcore gamers , then I will always lose. I have a better change of going back to resistance 2 and getting 10,000 kills for a gold trophy than coming in the top 1% of all gamers for that week.

Overall, I enjoyed the online, it wasn't spectacular, but I did enjoy it. I think I enjoyed Resistance 2 online a little more, the co-op in Resistance 2 is awesome. On a different note, I am not one of the people who believe that all games need mulitplayer added to them, Dead Space being a great example. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed by either.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - PS3

I love Retro games,anything 8-bit, 16 bit, vector, Basically anything that I remember playing or seeing when I was a kid. So when a company releases a compilation of all their games on one disc, I usually pick it up. I'm a sucker for old nostalgia type games. I got quite a few of them for the PS2 and recently they released a compilation of them for the PS3 called Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Its almost the same game compilation that came out for the PS2, with minor changes here and there and more games added.

What can I say, I'm a big fan of these types of releases, especially the Genesis. There are over 40 plus games on this thing and all of them were games that I wanted to play when I was a kid, but either didn't because I couldn't afford them, or something new came out that I wanted to play more. Anyway, its a great trip down memory lane for me.

The game is set up to look like a Genesis system, with selectable carts on the right and the console on the left. Its really kick ass!! They all come with a little blurp about the game and includes game art. Their are interviews, but if you own the PS2 one, its the same interviews. Also it has a number of arcade titles that you can play, so you keep hitting the button to insert more quarters. So one can finally finish one of those money pot games without having to spend your months allowance trying to finish Altered Beast.


They also included Mulitplayer on these games, so you can play with friends on coop games such has streets of rage and Sonic 2. Its a really great feature.

The best thing of all, it has TROPHIES!!! yaaaaaayy, I love trophies and getting trophies based of requirements for these old titles were really fun. I have to say that out of all the games I own with Trophy's. This game by far was the easiest and some of he funnest ones I had ever gotten. I don't know if it was because of the old retro feel, but I had super fun getting the trophies here.


An example of some trophies were, reach this stage, or for Ecco the Dolphin, eat 200 fish, collect 100 rings or get 10,000,000 pts in sonic spinball in the first level. And in trying to get each of these, I found myself enjoying playing the game itself.

I really don't have any gripe with this game except, when I first turned on the game there was sound, then when I selected a game and the game started, the sound disappeared. I thought that the game was screwed up or the emulation of the games on the disc was done wrong. Instead the sound for the game runs on the same line has my headset. So the sound was being played through my headset. So if you unplug your headset or change the settings in the PS3, it works just fine.
I really enjoyed this game and you will be happy to know, that this title got me my 3rd Platinum Trophy, yeeeehaaaa. I am really sad that I finished this game, but its always still fun to go back to old titles with a friends and just go through levels. Its a great time, if you are a fan of old retro games, than you will love this title. I think my rating for this game will be a little bias than most gamers, so its a little higher on my list than most people would rate it.

Resistance 2 - PS3

I own the first one, and it was one of the few games that I really got my moneys worth outta of. The single player was great and the online was really fun. I played this game for 2 years without getting bored.

So I was delighted to hear about a Resistance 2. And knowing me, I love any game that has Trophies, I am a trophy addict. I will do everything I can to get the trophies. Right now, that's what I am currently doing, trying to get all the trophies.

The single player mission is much shorter than the first one. It looks better, the controls are mapped better, but its kinda short. But again, they get you to replay these levels to get the trophies. So after I have played through once, I gotta go back again, to kill certain enemies a number of times with a specific weapon, or find all the intell and so on. Its pretty fun.

What I think is missing from the game is the vehicle portion and controlling large mounted guns. Instead it is replaced with Giant Leviathan bosses. They are all pretty easy to beat, its the overwhelming of enemies on the screen that always kill me. But with all the enemies on the screen and all the shit blowing up and bullets flying, there is NO slow down time. Its awesome to see 50-60 enemies on the screen at once and mowing them down with grenades and explosives.


The weapon system is different aswell. You don't collect weapons and have them throughout the entire game like the last one, instead, you can only carry 2 weapons at a time, so choose your weapon carefully. Head into a situation with the wrong weapon and make it past a checkpoint, you got some hard times ahead.

But its the multiplayer where this game really shines. You got Co-op, (my fav) and Competitive. Co-op of course is playing with people online to work together to complete task. There are 3 different classes to choose from. A heavy gunner, Medic and Spec OPs. They did a great job of making people work together online as well. Unlike most games where groups of people on the same team runoff and do whatever they want to do by themselves. Co-op actually is set up so that all 3 benefit each other. Each one needs the other to get by, if you go in with just a heavy gunner, you will run outta ammo, so you need the spec-ops to resupply with ammo or your up shit creek. The medic, well for obvious reasons. You can't heal yourself, any damage taken stays with you, you don't heal over time. All you team gets wiped out and if there's not medic to revive you, your Fked. The solider, well, hes the tank of the team, able to deal large amounts of damage quickly and able to put up force fields to protect the rest of the team. Its Great how they made the co-op in this game.


So overall, I really am enjoying this game. I have gotten almost all the single player trophies and am working on the co-op trophies now. Then after that I have to get the competitive trophies. but I doubt I will get all of those. Its something like get 10,000 kills for a gold trophy. I've been playin alot, and I only have 738 kills. I can only imagine how many hrs you would have to put in to get 10,000 kills

I like this game, its great with friends and much better than the online game sites say. I say if you got a PS3 then this one is worth your while. Get a buddy to get it aswell. Its great fun.

Playstation HOME- BETA-PS3

This is gonna be pretty short. The Playstation Network have been going on forever about their new interactive online community, the Playstation Home. Well it was released this week and I must admit that I was a little interested in the whole ordeal. So I clicked it and gave it a download.

I've read a few things online about the whole thing, and there seemed to be quite a bit of hype about the whole thing. IGN said that Sony is hoping that this will be a system seller, that it will push new systems and that the download will be 500MB, a networked community to meet and play games.

Well, when I downloaded it, it asked me if I wanted to put aside 3700MB of space for this. So I wanted to give it a try, so I did, but that's a far cry from the 500MB that was once said, but I know things in this industry change, so what!?

Then when I got it downloaded it gives you options to create your own avatar, which is an adult guy or girl with very limited options. I mean you can do alot with the facial features, but the outfits and accessories are very limited. If you want to really custtomize yourself and your apt you have to buy with actually money the items from the playstation store. Yeah, watch me !So after you make the person that you think resembles you, you start off in your apartment where you can move things(furniture,pictures) around and make it your own. You can leave and go to other areas, the court, the mall, etc.

Its when you leave your apt that you can meet other people and play games that are offered on home. Chat and challenge friends to a friendly game of something.....God this is making me sick....ITS STUPID, BORING, STUPID PIECE OF BORESHIT!!!!...GOD!!

The only fun I had was trying to make an online version of me, but they didn't have any facial hair, just lame mustaches. Only mimmy thinks mustaches are cool. It was dumb, every thing about it. Moving shit around in my virtual apt and meeting people online, and the games that are offered are boring. ITS NO GOOD!!!....I downloaded it and installed it and maybe 10 min later uninstalled it and deleted it, what a waste of space and time.

The only people who will like this are people with no lives and are in to that whole second life deal. The average gamer I think will get just has bored and unentertained has I was. Download it if you like, give it a try and see for yourselves. If you like this and see this has something that you want to rush home and get into, then you truly have no life. Just stop right now, cut off your wiener and tape yourself to the chair and have all your food pumped in through the window in puree form.

Pain - PS3

This is a PS3 Exclusive. It seems that the PS3 is lacking in the exclusive dept. So woohoo for me.
Too many people have 360's, I have a total of 3 people on my network. Which makes for lacking friend mulitplayer. But one can download "Pain" for $9.99.

And some may say that this game gets old fast and becomes repetitive. The premise here is you launch people into a sandbox area , where the more things they hit, the higher the score. That's about it for the meat of the game. Sure it has some great "OHHHHH" moments or I can't believe they just did that. But I can see the appeal wearing off the average gamer.

But there is so much more to pain than just flinging a character around a city or amusement park. When you really start to get into the game, you can find out that it becomes like a giant game of mouse trap. Hit this thing which triggers the net, which hits the bowling ball, which blows up the car, now it crashes through the glass, hit the bomb , etc, etc. It takes some skill and alot of luck. Which makes this game alot of trial and error. But when you do land that perfect launch, their is a great sense of achievement.

Which is the next part of this game. There are a ton of achievements and Trophies for this game. And by no means are any of them easy to get. If its getting the trophy for getting hit in the nuts for the 500th time, or shooting yourself 300ft in the air. The achievements are pretty intense. And this is just the ingame achievements. The trophies are just has hard to get. I have yet to get even one. I have to say that these set of trophies are the hardest set of trophies I have come across for any game.

But trying to get these trophies, like I said before are alot of trial and error, but I don't find that it becomes tedious. The amount of damage you can cause by launching your character into a brick wall, with a gratifying SMACK, does entertain very well. I think its a little sadistic, but funny. I enjoy it anyway.


One thing I don't like about this game are the characters. There aren't many of them. I started out with 1 guy, 2 more that you have to unlock and the rest you have to buy for .99 cents. There are 10 in total that you can buy from the store along with a new level to shoot people around in. I did buy 5 characters. Mainly the girls with big boobs. Something funny about seeing a big titted girl getting whacked in the head by a giant foot that does not get old. Sadly there isn't a achievement or trophy for"whack a girl in the head 50 times".



This game is pretty fun and entertaining and I really like the title song and its not for younger kids. There are alot of sexual content in this game and vulgarity. Its entertaining in the way that the game with the polar bear and the penguins, where you have to whack the penguin with the bat to see how far you can make him fly. I'd recommend this game to anyone with a PS3. You don't have to download all the extras to get your fill of this game. But it does help

Great Trailer

Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare- PS3

This game has been out for quite a while now. Everyone who I talked too said that I should get it, its a great game. Mind you now, all the people who were telling me to get it, all played it on XBOX 360. And because the game has been out for while, I was waiting for the price to drop so I could get it at a steal. But it never did, so I broke down and picked it up for full price, $59.99.

This one is going to be pretty short, just like the game. Its your standard First Person Shooter that is set up in modern times. So you get all the weapons of today. Personally, I perfer the WW1 and 2 weapons. I like the rifles and all that. You can pick up any weapon in the game that the enemy has dropped. Unlike some games, (turok, Resistance) you don't get to keep the weapons you pick up. If you pick something up, then it replaces the one that you currently have. But I didn't mind that, just food for thought.

The single player mission IS friggin awesome.! The flying in the plane overhead raining down shells and basically giving artillery cover for your troops, was my favourite part. But that doesn't mean the rest wasn't has good. It was ALL good, it was great. I don't have anything bad to say about the gameplay of Call of Duty 4. EXCEPT...it was short, it was super short.


Which brings us to the next point. This game was made primarily has a Online Mulitplayer game. Which is ok, but if you don't play online very much, like me. Then paying $59.99 is a waste of money. I felt like I got $20.00 worth of gameplay out of it. The rest is online. But if you are a big online mulitplayer, then this is the game for you. It has rankings and upgrades, Experience points to next level. Everything and more that one would want from a online game.


Which takes us to the last point. XBOX 360 has an achievement list for the single player and online player. PS3, doesn't have squat, not even the trophies which the PS network is raving on about. So put out some fucking games that have trophies in them. Anywho, going back and playing the single player mission again in the PS3 version doesn't offer that satisfaction of ,"Kill 3 guys with one grenade" achievement. If I go back and play the PS3 version, the only thing that I can attempt to do is time trials. I hate fucking time trails on any game. So having it in the PS3 version, is a slap in the face.

So overall, I feel that the ps3 version, although probable plays just has well and looks just has great has the xbox version. It doesn't have the unlock achievement list, and for me, I like trying to unlock achievements. Awhile back I purchased a game online called Stardust HD, and it was one of the first games to offer trophies for the ps3. And the trophies were one of the reasons I got the game. Although, the gameplay is great, its short, its geared towards Online and it offers no achievements/trophies. So I must say that I was greatly disappointed by what was offered in the game package.

MegaMan 9 Review!

MegaMan 9 just arrived on the Wii's "Wiiware" and it's well worth the $10! This is by far the best MegaMan game to come out in years, and the best "wii-ware" game to hit the Nintendo Wii so far. It just seems to have everything right about it - Bad 8-bit graphics, NES soundtrack, and a friggin hard difficulty.

The story is a bit crap but the rest of the game is enjoyable. They went back to Megaman 2's roots taking out the charge shot and sliding from later installments of the game.... this is a good thing. Also added is a "store" where you can purchase power-ups and all kinds of goodies just to help you along, and it's needed! Another great feature for freaks is the time-attack mode, and challenges to unlock... but you'd have to be insane to go for some of them (not firing your mega-buster, not getting hit etc etc)

There's a section for future downloadable content as well that seems good and a leaderboard where you can see some people who play way too many games.

Did I mention the game is hard? I found myself swearing and playing levels over and over but swearing in a good way. I didn't mind playing levels over, in fact the game is too much fun to really care about that.

In closing get this game! 9/10
