Game Quote of the Day

Beatfreaker over at Portable Soldier sent a quote that I thought was pretty damn hilarious and got me thinking about doing Game Quote of a Day series, when they pop up.

So starting with, Activision. They say they will start a subscription service for the the next Modern Warfare 3. People can pay monthly subscriptions for extra bits here and there. People don't take kindly to paying for things they usually get for free.

Quote:

"To add insult to injury, the service is seemingly populated entirely by racist (and/or homophobic) twelve-year-olds whose filthy mouths are only matched by their abnormally high k/d ratios."

Thank you!

I figured that in the past I would post if a negative experience was had online while playing some random multiplayer game. Far too often that type of behavior is what makes most people shy away from playing randomly online.

But I'm happy to say that last nights shoot fest in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 resulted in some friendly online play with strangers. Which is refreshing when most of the time its just horrible racist arseholes online.

Its was funny in a way, because its like gamers are starved for online gaming buddies(friendly ones). Cause after 10 min of play I get a friend request. Its like a bell rings off in people's heads," OMG!! someone who isn't insane and not acting like a crazy person, I must add them for future online play, lord knows the next time I'll find someone sane". Although I wouldn't classify my self as sane...but good enough I suppose.

But it was refreshing to join a game and play with someone who wasn't spouting filth every 5 sec. To think I didn't even had my headset on, I just heard voices coming from it while I was playing and thought,"Lets see what nonsense is being said online". To my surprise the guy was chatting away to me, (the game registers my mic if I don't have it turned off-so I guess he thought I could hear him).

So turned my mic on and had a grand ole time. Just wanted to spread a story that sometimes, not all online play with strangers ends up horrible.

Jugernaut Pixel Animation Sheet

Love stuff like this,...what it is...its a sheet with all the frames of animation used of a character, in this case of Juggernaut for a old X-men gameboy game. Its a sprite sheet that the coders use to draw images from when building the game. Its set up different for most games, buts its great to see works like this.

GoldFish

Alot of work went into making this video, some great old classic video game reference within the video. Its fantastic for any gamer of the 80's-90's with 8-16 bit classics.

Gaming Company Logo's????

These things are popping up everywhere. Funny though.

Pacman Ghost Table

Cutsey Classics

Its like Alice in Wonderland meets Video Game Land.

El Fuerte Takes a Knee To The Tummy

A great painting of a action scene from Super Street Fighter 4.

Smoothing Out My Pixels

Umm. sure this is a neat premise, but I'm sorry. I will take my blocky 8/16 bit characters over smoothed out ones any day. I should clarify, these guys made a algorithm that smooths out 8/16 bit games. So you can play in all your smoothed out glory!!....no thanks...I stick with my blocky ones.

Princess Upskirt

If you squint really really hard, you can see...no wait, that's just dirt.

Good Game - I Think?!

I send GG "Good Game" to most people I play online. My only thought is the guy on the other end is mentally unstable. One of those people who you pass on the street and then freaks out cause he thinks you looked/glanced at him in passing. Those are the most scariest types of people because really, I don't understand their thought process? boggles the mind why someone would react like that.

GameBoy Commercials

I love nothing more than seeing old commercials of old products, but seeing as this is a gaming blog, it can only be game related. Here are some great oldies of the Gameboy. Never owned a original Gameboy, but I did play it here and there from friends. I never was a fan of the greenish screen.

This one doesn't make sense,...but I also don't speak Japanese either.

Castle Crash This U Necromorphs!

Pretty bad ass painting of Isacc from Dead Space as a Castle Crasher soldier.

Laser in Games - Pretty

In the 80's, well when Tron came out, anything that glowed had me mezmorized. So when the game Tron came out in the arcade with the light cycles, I shit my proverbial pants. This just led to me liking other things that resembled those damn light bikes.

Like green laser that shot around the Edison Twins show. Man, I loved that show.

Then we have Jedi Arena, my first taste of the lightsaber....sweet JEBUS!!!

Sonic Does Wolverine

Hey, if they are letting Urkel in on all the Sonic nonsense and giving him tips on how to pick up human girls. Then why not make him Sonicerine, or Wolveronic!..none of those sound good...forget I even said anything about that. Its all bad.

PS3 Gets PSP Titles

Most of you probable have all ready heard this news. Just blabbing about my thoughts on the subject, short and sweet.

Its damn great news, is what it is!! There are a handful of titles on the PSP that I would love to try, Monster Hunter being number 1. Probable go back and try Killzone liberation, or Resistance Retribution and Parasite Eve's 3rd Birthday, just to name a few.

This is a great move on Sony's part, and I think Nintendo should follow suit. I'm sure there are tons of people who would love to play some DS games on their Wii. I know I would, so do it already.

And that's it....great news, can't wait. Oh a side note from a earlier post. I got my DLC from dragon age to work. I didn't do nothing different than before, just opened up the game, logged in and put the code in and THIS time it work. yahoo, now on to killing some dragons.

L.A. Noire - PS3

It's too early to tell if I like L.A. Noire yet. There are some things I definitely love and some things that bug the heck out of me. But I won't go into that right now.

What I WILL say is something that happened yesterday evening and that totally caught me off-guard.

I was leisurely driving to a destination and stopped at a red light. While waiting for the light to turn green, the radio was playing. And I was just looking around, at the people walking by and crossing, the store fronts. Then a tram went by at another street far off and went *ding ding*. The street sounds all around me, tapping my foot to the music ...

Then a car honked at me from behind, because the light had been green for a while and I wasn't moving. I had been totally lost in the setting for a few minutes without realizing!! A little moment of pure immersion.

For all it's faults and shortcomings. This little revelation made up for a lot of it. :)
It was great.

Not quite a holo-deck, but pretty close.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition DLC NOT AUTHORIZED

Downloaded Dragon -(what the title says) from steam last night. All is well....before I went to bed, I wanted to test it, see that everything is working.

Game starts ups, looks fine...go to my DLC section, see that I have all the DLC downloaded and installed, but by everyone of them is "unauthorized".

So I click it and it says, you must log in with the Bioware account with your EA account. So I go to account creation and it says that the address I used is already being used. So I think, " I guess I created a account awhile ago". So I use my address and a password and sure enough, I have an account already.

So I use that account, same email address that is used with my steam account. Go and registered my game and went back to the game. It STILL says not authorized. So I click it again and it takes me to a redeem code page. I put in the other code that I was given with the download and it then says that I must use an account that owns the material??! What now?...can't you see that I own it? I'm logged in to your server within the game linked with the account....isn't that what your talking about??!!?

So I go poking around the account and in the registered games section, I click to see what games I have registered and it says I own Dragon Age 2 with all its DLC. What?!!?!....this is making no god damn sense.

I go looking around the web for help with people telling me to mess with the code in the game with word pad, to bioware patches. But the game has been out for over a year, I'm pretty sure it should be working.

I can play the regular game and have access to awakenings, but all the DLC just says unauthorized. I don't know how to activate. I've tried the code on several screens, went to purchasing and put in the code and I am met with," you must use an account that owns the material". What are you talking about?!?!...I own it...its mine, its installed!! WORK DAMMIT!!!

I honestly don't know how to fix it. All the help topics are useless, with" It worked for me, or for all the code masters fix it with word pad". I'm hoping I can call them and get them to activate it on their end, cause I am boggled with what to do to fix it.

It seems so simple. LOG IN TO USE THIS - I LOG IN - CLICK HERE TO REDEEM - error - YOU MUST OWN A COPY OF THIS TO USE THIS. This makes no sense.

Anyone who has any ideas, please for the love of all that is meat and baloney. Help!

This is One of the Thing's Wrong with Sonic

You can't sell me on this...you just can't. I don't care how popular you think you are.

Now, all I hear is Steve Urkel.

PipBoy 3000

Proving that if you have enough time on your hands, or if your unemployed...you can do anything.

This guy made a Pipboy from the Fallout series with his iphone. Its pretty bad ass..er bum....behind..tush...derriere....bottom....arse.....poopshoot. I can go on.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - PSN

I downloaded this before the store went down, being a plus member you get this game for free. I'm also a old school Sega Genesis fan, so anything on that system holds a special place in my heart.

Playing it now, this is when the series started to take its down turn. The first one was a great, a balance, look and feel of a great game.

The second one, its as if they went success crazy. HOLY MOLY!!, the first one did well....lets make the second one and choose all the things that are wrong with it and expand on that.

The music, the colors, it all seemed way too busy.

Mario had it right, you didn't see all kinds of shit all over the place, it well design levels. As if each level could be a stand alone art piece. Where sonic looks like too many ideas all stuffed into one, MORE MORE MORE, FASTER FASTER FASTER.

Think whom ever started this path for sonic, ruined the franchise. I mean look at the picture above from Sonic on the PS3. In this scene he is trying to get with the human girl....WTF?!?!..really?!.....you took your Furry Fetish and put it into the game?! I don't understand the brains behind this at all...its just wrong.

I still hold a dear place in my heart for the blue guy, but I haven't enjoyed a game like the original since. The second one, proves how I feel. Its just not right.....its OK, but something is off.

But hey, I got it for free, so I'm not out money.

Video Games, Gummy Style!

This is really cute.
I love the sounds too!

Sony's Welcome Back Package

I think most people knew even before it came out, that it wouldn't please everyone. There will always be someone with some sense of entitlement, "ME - what about ME - I/ME Deserve this".

Most of us already know whats offered in the program. Here is this again for those of you who may have not seen it.

You can select two of the five following PlayStation 3 games:

  • Dead Nation
  • Infamous
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • WipeOut HD + Fury

If you own a PSP, then two of the following 4 games:

  • LittleBigPlanet PSP
  • ModNation Racers PSP
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation

Additionally:

  • "A selection of 'On Us' rental movie titles" for use on a single weekend. The weekend in question and the titles available have yet to be determined.
  • Non-PlayStation Plus subscribers get 30 free days of PlayStation Plus.
  • Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers get 60 free days of PlayStation Plus.
This is great, except for the fact that I own all the games for the PS3 except wipeout HD. But I'm not upset by this, the selection of games offered are varied for different taste, A shump, Twinstick shooter, sandbox, platformer and racer. Covers the basics of all gamers taste. I also don't own a PSP, otherwise I take advantage of Killzone liberation and modnation racers.

So sadly I will miss out on any free games(not a racing gamer - no Wipeout HD for me), but hey! I do get 2 extra months of Playstation Plus, I'm cool with that. Honestly I am just looking forward to having access to all the great DLC games that have came out within the past 3 weeks.

In the end, I'm perfectly happy with the more than generous package offered.

Video Game Alphabet

Can you name them all...I couldn't.

Lego Harry Potter - PS3 - Post#2

I beat out the bug!! But I think it's because I was lucky as to how it happened.

At first I tried playing one of the story levels that required you to go through the moving stairway hall, hoping that somehow it may reset them and free me. But I realized that Hogwarts is simply a hub to go in between the levels and  you never actually play IN it when going through the story levels.

So I decided to try stuff.

It happened that the troublesome stair stuck in mid-rotation. And when I jumped down from the top one, if I aimed it right I could barely jump onto the lower one, with controlling the character so it wouldn't fall off immediately. But then, when I went to the portrait to make the stairs rotate, it just wouldn't.

Then I remembered that the stairs didn't rotate if you activated them when all your characters weren't on the same landing.
So, I repeated the jumping down process with the two other characters, brought them to the landing and IT WORKED!

So I can go on. But that required a lot of trial-and-error and I just think I was lucky in my bad luck that the stairs got stuck at that spot. Slightly less, and I wouldn't have been able to reach it.

So, I'll go on and platinum the hell out of this game, just to throw egg on it's face!

Lego Harry Potter - PS3

I am SO MAD at this game right now. Darryl already went through a while bad with some of the multiplayer bugs he encountered. Here is the original post.

But what I encountered is in the single-player game and it is a doozy!

So I've finished all the story parts and going back in freeplay to try and unlock everything and exploring Hogwarts to get all the red/gold bricks and characters. I have almost all the red ones, and many many characters. I have pips up the whazoo, thanks to the many combined multipliers. So everything is fun and dandy.

So I happily get the red brick in Dumbledore's office, which is a pain because you have to be a dark magic character and a polyjuice potion is very far, you have to go through all the shifting stairwells. What do I do? Well, I go back to Diagon Alley to purchase the red brick I just unlocked, of course. YAY! Fantastic! Only 3 left to find!

I transport back to Hogwarts to get on with my search. I appear back where I left, on one of the stair landing. Then, a stair starts shifting for no apparent reason ... AND STOPS MID-SHIFT. No amount of going back in and out of rooms, jumping to my death or shooting the portraits will make it move. It is STUCK there. Which means I am stuck there too. Nothing to be done.

I've looked on the internet and it is indeed a bug. So no more exploring Hogwarts for me. I would have to start a whole new game.

This blows.

So, if you're playing the game DO NOT LEAVE HOGWARTS WHEN YOU'RE IN THE MOVING STAIRWELL HALL!! You may get stuck there with no way back.

My issue isn't visually the same as this video, but it's essentially the same thing. Stuck there forever.

The game was fun up until that part. :(
I'll probably start it up again in the future, but now it hurts too much.

Sub-Mario

This gives me an Idea!..now just to find time to make my own like this.

My 24th Platinum - Dante's Inferno

I wanted to platinum this game for awhile, but like most of us, a new game comes along and we put something aside with the intentions of coming back to it later. I had already finished the game, but I wanted to go through and do all the extras.

Well finally, with the psn being down, I took this time to go back and play some of my older titles. One being Dante's Inferno and platinuming it out over the weekend.

Overall, it wasn't too hard, even the challenge room was pretty easy if you have all your stuff upgrade.

The only thing I found the most irritating is the same with all platinuming games are the collectibles. Find all the items in a game can be a chore depending on whats involved. Luckily, the game is good enough to play through a second time and it all works out. Good fun, I had just as much fun playing Dante's and I did God of War 3.

With that I got my 24th platinum.

BRAWL - Video Game Characters Gone Wild

Brawl are for people looking to showcase their 3D skills with people who make 3D versions of their favorite video game character with there own flare and style. Some of these are..heck most of them are amazing. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing a whole game done in the style of some of these models.
