Zelda Swords

I played a few of the Zelda games, mostly on the older systems. Never really payed attention to the swords, but somebody did and made a chart with them on it.

Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers - NES

I think by the time I played this game, I was under the conclusion that all NES were just naturally difficult. Not so with Chip and Dale, sure it wasn't stupid easy either, but it was just enough challenge to make it fun that even after finishing it, there were levels that I wanted to go back and replay.

Being as it was co-op a buddy could join, but unlike most co-op games on the NES, if one person wasn't up to par then more than likely, your buddy was going to hold back the progression of the game. Not so here, the game was noob friendly enough that the other person didn't need to be a stellar gamer to pick up and play. It was very friendly to new comers, easy enough to learn and never became so hard that it was unplayable with friends.

The Disney games that came out like these all seemed to be great little gems. The Duck Tales games were great fun and again, weren't super hard but just enough fun to keep you coming back for more.

Rescue rangers was a game that I think I beat multiple times, unlike some other NES games once I finished them I never went back to them because they were so friggin hard. Chip and Dale holds a small place in my heart.

It's Late - I Should Be In Bed- Instead I Finished Killzone 3

I got Killzone 3 on Thursday and I finished it Saturday night. The single player campaign that is, I'd imagine that the multiplayer is alot more involved.

Overall....I was quite happy with what I played. It was fun and I can't wait to go through it again on Elite mode, because you know I love getting shot in the head again and again. Besides, I am thinking about platniming this game. Since I couldn't platinum killzone 2 because of that stupid get in the top 1% of all players world wide for that week( I'm normal....I don't play games 8 hrs a day)

I feel that this time around I take a shot at the 3rd one. Haven't really looked at the trophies yet, just enjoying the game for what it is on its first play through. Great fun!!...gonna give online a go and get back to ya's when I get through it a little more. But first, its late...sleepy time.

Marvil Vs Capkom 3 - What the Trailer Should Be.

Its all true.

Blake's Luck

I tend to think that the luck whether it be good or bad, that someone, somewhere else in the world is having the opposite luck that I am having. Yesterday I went out to buy Killzone 3, and I stopped in to Future shop. They had a deal on that if you buy Killzone 3 you get Starship Troopers on Blue Ray for Free.

I showed up on the last day of the deal and they just happen to be all out of Starship Troopers on Blue Ray. Then today I find out that Zellars(soon to be Target) is selling Killzone 3 for $49.99 as oppose to the $59.99 elsewhere.

This kinda nonsense seems to happen to me on a regular basis. And this isn't me just focusing on the negative, I mean when something good happens its like lightening striking. It sticks in my memory as a day when something out of the blue good happened.

I guess I could take back my opened copy of killzone 3 back to Future Shop and see if I can get my money back. But knowing my luck, I will probable sell it and then go to Zellars and have them all sold out or I could get the game from Zellars first and then have Future shop not take the game back and be stuck with 2 copies. That or having them not give me full price for the game and selling it back at a loss to me. Which take into account of the savings I got at Zellars added with the loss at Future shop results into the same amount of money being spent.

I'm better off just bending over and saying," world? please use lube this time?"

Playing Sequels - Sometimes Not For Me

A recent comment made by a follower of the blog made think about something that I tend to do. That is Not play sequels of games because I had my fill with the first one. That got me thinking about all the games that I played and enjoyed the first one, then the second one comes out with alot of hype behind it and ends up getting great reviews, but for some reason. I have no inclination to play it.

So here is my list of games that I played the 1st and not the sequel.

BioShock 2

This is probable going to be the standard for all the games that I played....it will follow as is.
Its more of what you already loved. That statement I think is what kills it for me in regards to making me want to play it. I already played the first one and feel that I got my fill for it, and honestly feel nothing for playing the next one. Bioshock is just that, I enjoyed the first one, but don't want to play the second one, also throwing in multiplayer makes me want to play it even less. This is a game that doesn't need multiplayer.

Infamous 2

I wasn't overly blown away with the first one, sure it was ok, but that's about it. I really have no feeling to even look at the second one at all.

Assassin's Creed Games

Even thought I enjoyed the world of the first game and they say that everything that was wrong in the first game was fixed with the new ones, I am just not interested in seeing it. To me it feels like, "here is what the game was suppose to be, now go play this one and forget the other one existed". I know that's not true, its just how I feel about it.

Mass Effect 2

I played the hell outta the first one and to jump into a rich environment like that again is alot to take on. So again, a game that I totally got my fill with the first one.....no need to play the second one.

Fallout: New Vegas

Same as Mass Effect 2, I spent a boat load of hrs in the first game. Add in the bugs of the game and freezes and potential data loss, really doesn't appeal to me at all. I enjoyed the first game alot and I don't feel I am missing anything by not playing the New Vegas.

Batman : Arkham City

I LOVED, and I mean LOVED the first game. I am really torn about playing the second one. For me , its not a new territory, its just more Batman, but now he's in the city. Sure, it be fun, but I am totally content with everything I did in the first Batman. This one waits to be seen, but right now, I may just leave it alone.

Starwars: The Force Unleashed 2

I had a ragin man urge for this game the day I saw the first trailer for it. I enjoy the starwars genre and I enjoyed the first game enough to warrant playing a second. Then the reviews and the length of the game came out, coupled with full price. Made me go from, MUST HAVE NOW..to "meh, I'll wait when I see it in the bargain bin for $20 or less."

Dead Space 2

They say it surpasses the 1st one in every way. Well I really enjoyed the first one and all the video's and demo I played all makes it feel like a continuation(which it is) of the first game. Added in a multiplayer that it didn't need and it writes itself into the standard of what I don't want to play again.

Now I'm not saying that all these sequels are bad games(Force Unleashed aside). I know they are great fun and some surpass the the first games by far. So yeah, being good/great games has nothing to do with my decisions, its just the plain and simple fact, I don't feel the need to continue doing more of what I did in the first. If you haven't played any of these games, that I think if you play the 1st one or 2nd one, you will have a enjoyable experience.

NEStalgia - Free to Play

Remember all those classic RPG we played on the NES, well now you can go back to that and play them again as NEStalgia. The only difference is that everyone you meet online, will be acutally players.

Its called, ""Dragon Warrior 3 meets World of Warcraft", NEStalgia is an amalgam of the best generations of RPG gaming." Best of all its free, go over and give it a try if you are a 8bit geek like myself.

Tetris on Gameboy

This was my first game that I played on the Nintendo game boy, and I think for most of us, it was the first game we all played on the game boy.

Also, being one of the first real puzzle games that I played, I remember not knowing what I had to do. Theses blocks don't fit together, why are they giving me that shape? It doesn't fit. Why would you give me a block that doesn't fit?I need a long piece and you give me a a curvy piece, are you even playing the same game as me Mr block giver?!!

Needless to say, those were my initial thoughts on it. That and if I turned the system too much to the left or right I wouldn't be able to see the screen. I don't remember if this was a system flaw or if my batteries were just dying.

But for its time, I guess Tetris was a great little time waster, probable one of the first play for 10-15 min time waster...these days, time waster games make up 99% of the mobile and facebook games. Great thing you did there Tetris...you made us all have short attention spans.

Killzone 3 - Helghast Edition

Fellow gamer "Beatfreaker" went and picked up the Helghast Editon for Killzone 3 which came with some pretty kick ass loot. Me personally, I never was into special edition boxed editions, but I will admit that this one is pretty kick ass.

It comes with a Helghast helmet that looks awesome and can fit on your cats head or a baby if you feel the need to see it on a human's head. It comes with art booklet, a figurine of the sniper Helghast and codes for all kinds of stuff.

You get a classic multiplayer map from Killzone 2
You get 24 hrs of double XP - Jay, if I were you. I wouldn't leave the house for 24 hrs.
You get the soundtrack to Killzone 3, I very much enjoyed the Killzone 2 opening theme.
Behind the scenes making of the game.
Dynamic them and avatar
Fast start kit with early access to weapons and such.

The double XP and map are my two favorite things. Its a pretty good deal if you ask me. Though it will set you back $150......but think of your cat with this kickass helmet. No one will mess with him again.

PS3 Error 80023102 Fixed

From my last two(first-second)post about this error, I was still trying to figure out the whole mess and for once it worked it out when it comes to technology.

In this case, what Sony help fails to tell you, which would have been a great piece of information. If you recently deactivated and reactivated your PSN account. Then sometimes, they put a hold on your account from purchasing anything from the store.

Now this is just an addition to server maintenance problem, and the other stuff they mention on their help page.

So yeah, after 14 days. I was able to purchase things again. So I can only assume that it was what their guy said,"There's a hold on your account when you reactivate it".

Please Sony, add that tidbit of info on your website, it will save alot of confusion and frustration.

Well, its fixed now and for once worked itself out. Lets move on.

The Evolution Tree of Game Controllers

Here's a nifty(that's right..nifty, i'm bringing it old old old school) little pic of what controller came from what controller...its all lies though. We know the egg came first.

Zelda 25th anniversary Fanart

Woah! Someone posted a huge Fanart for Zelda's anniversary.

Only posting a thumbnail here, because it REALLY HUGE

The full-sized one is here

I've Joined Plus

Ever since Plus came out I was wondering if I should give it a go? And much like the initial release of the PS3 console with its limited library, it seemed like I was making that decision again. Not enough material to pull me in, but over the past 2-3 months, Plus has had some really great stuff that I wanted to try, the biggest one being the DC Universe MMO. If I had Plus, I could have tried it for free and then made a decision if I wanted to buy it or not. Now, I have to buy a $60 dollar game to find out in the first month if I like it enough to want to pay $15 a month or if I don't like it, sit on my shelf too never be played again.

Then the past week, Stacking was free for Plus Users, I thought. This is stupid, I'm getting plus. The thing with plus is that the deals only last a week or so. So if you miss out, its not going to be there in the back library for you to take advantage of.

So with that, I got 1 year plus 3 free months with plus and I've already gotten a substantial amount of money from the deal.
To start I got -
Stacking which was $14.99 for free
Digger which was $9.99 for free
A Dynamic theme which was $2.99 for free

Add in the taxes to all that and I am looking at over $30 worth of stuff. Another $30 bucks worth over the next year and 3 months and plus pays for itself. I have no doubt that I will be taking advantage of the free deals on plus. So far, I am pretty happy with the deal. I will update the give and take deals of plus every now and then.

More Playtime With MvsC3: Fate of Two Worlds

After playing Marvel Vs Capcom 3 quite a bit more this week and I can confidently say that this game was made with hardcore gamers in mind even though it has a simple mode, still makes it a game for the hardcore fans of the fighting game genre.

Fighting games are meant to be played with other people, right? Well too often I am dumped in a room with (someone who is suppose to be my equal) and instead get my ass handed too me as if I was a 6 year old being held down by a wrestler has he grabbed my hands and smacked my own face all the while repeating,"stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself..."

Again, the challenge missions is what really tells me that this game was made for hardcore gamers. The missions challenges start out stupid easy," Do this one move". Then move up to,"Do this one move with this other move". Then by the time you hit level 5 of 10, you are trying to pull off 6-15 button combinations at lighting speed all the while not missing a beat. Its insane, because some I can actually do, just not fast enough. So they go from stupid easy challenges to hard, no middle ground, nothing. Its frustrating a hell.

Online again, well you can guarantee that you will fight at least 2 of these 5(Dante, Akuma, Ryu, Zero, Wolverine) characters online. This always seems to be the problem online, no one is willing to learn other characters and give it a go. Everyone always goes back to the same handful of characters because its what they know. What results is a boring and unchallenging match where you might as well sit back with your controller in your lap while the other guy flings you around the match. Honestly, I said it before, most of these guys wouldn't even notice that you are not even moving(controller sitting in your lap) because they are frantically pushing out 100 hit combos.

The guys that you will meet online in no particular order, Dante, Akuma, Ryu, Zero,Wolverine are the meatheads of the group. Dante has a simple combo with a delay and tons of damage that everyone uses. I had a match where one guy just spammed fireballs a whole round and his win to lose was 76-34, with just spamming fireballs?!?! Then the ones that stick you a corner and just go nuts, I can't even move...stuck in a corner, low blocking, high blocking, it doesn't matter. Its fucking frustrating and no fun.

There is a trophy for fighting against the entire roster online, you will never be able to get this trophy since 90% of the online players all choose between the same 10 characters.

I enjoy fighting games, but I don't know what it is about them lately. With Marvel vs Capcom 3, I would have to say, if you are a average fighter player like myself. I would say, stay away from this game and go play Street fighter 4. This game has two settings, childlike and mega hardcore hard-on mode. Right now I am just playing through the story modes of each character to see a 2 page lame ass story and unlock art and a model viewer. After that, I will probable only rarely play this game again if friends come over.

Overall, stay away from this game unless you like punishment or your one of those people who can dish out the 50-60 hit combos,(this doesn't include the using the super moves)

These are some videos of online, and look who is in all the rosters?? Always someone from that list of 5 characters I stated above. yeah, yeah, there are others out there who choose different characters, but go into a ranked match online and you will see who you will be fighting all the time.

Stacking - PS3

As soon as I saw the trailer for Stacking, I knew I would get it.

Just the style in itself was enough to sell me on it. And it being a Double-Fine product sealed the deal.

The gameplay is refreshing and relaxing. There's nothing WRONG you can do. Most action give you a funny or unexpected result. I guess I needed a game where no pressure (or heavy shooting) to refresh myself. And Stacking did it!!

All the characters in the game are russian stacking dolls and you play as the smallest doll in the world. All the dolls have an ability, some mundane, some special. You hop into any doll one size larger to control it.

Stacking Screenshot

The puzzles are all pretty easy to figure out if you look around or talk to the dolls, who will usually give you hints on how to proceed. And there's also a hint system, though I never used it, so I can't say much about it. Going through the game straight on is pretty fast and easy. But the challenge is finding the multiple solutions to the puzzles.

The environments are gorgeous. They all feel like play sets put together by kids to play in with the dolls. They are a combination of over-sized objects and materials, accompanied by a nice distance blur effect that makes you really feel that you're playing with small toy dolls.

Stacking Screenshot

And the doll actions are things that feel like kids would do while playing with them (including burping and farting). There's loads of them to collect and tons of different actions and interactions between them.

Stacking Screenshot

All in all, well worth the price for me. Loads of fun and I'm still going through it to get everything. At least try the demo to see if it's for you! You may be surprised.

Sony Begins Its PS3 Bans

If you turned on your PS3 yesterday and signed on, you may have gotten a notice about a new user agreement. Sign this thing and if you are in the legit, then its all hunky dory. Don't sign it and you can't access the PS3 network. Sign it and try to use pirated software and get banned from the PSN, PERMANENTLY!!!

Bout time I think, even with the little amount of time that hackers have jumped into the PSN network, some online games are riddled with hackers and making playing online not fun at all. I means its frustrating enough playing against hardcore legit players, let alone some guy who can take a bajillion points and damage and still be standing. So I'm glad that this (looks like for now) will ban these fuckers. I'm sure they will find some way around it, but for now. It puts them back on their heels.

Here is the letter that was released.

Notice: Unauthorized circumvention devices for the PlayStation 3 system have been recently released by hackers for the PlayStation 3 system. These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software.

Use of such devices or software violates the terms of your "System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System" and the "Terms of Services and User Agreement" for the PlayStation Network/ Qriocity and its Community Code of Conduct provisions.

In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws. A circumvention device and/or unauthorized or pirated software currently resides on your PlayStation 3 system. Immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from your PlayStation 3 system. Failure to do so will result in termination of your access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through your PlayStation3 system.

Video Game Stitching

I suppose we all have something that most people wouldn't have a clue about. The thing that I enjoy and most people who know me don't know this about me is that I enjoy cross stitching. Growing up, my grandmother used to do , owls and other animal thingies and for me it was like paint by numbers. I tried my hand at making a couple, a killer whale and a puffin, but I wasn't too good at it.

So since then, I mostly just like to see others work. But not just random cross stitching, but video game related. I came across the site A Riot Patch of Pixels that is all about video game cross stitching. Here are just some of my favorites. But click Here to see all of them layed out in a nice little package.

New Headers

In the next couple of weeks, I'm going to start messing around with creating a new header. A good one takes time to make. Unlike the one I just put up there, which took me 20 min by just playing around in photoshop like a monkey picking his ass.

So until then enjoy the 3D crayon based header that I call,"White woman goes for a walk while carrying crayons"

Dead Island

This has the be the most well done trailer I've ever seen for a game, epic is not the right word. Poignant?....Heartfelt with Blood?..I don't know. Watch it for yourselves and decide. I really liked it.

Marvel VS Capcom 3 - PS3 - First Impressions

Picked this one up yesterday and spent a couple of hrs playing trials, beating the game once and playing online for little over a half an hour.

The game itself looks and plays great. All the different costumes are more than just color swaps and some look better than the original they start with. The moves are over the top and fun to pull off.

One can have tons of fun playing, since most of the moves are all the same to pull off. But knowing what move does what is what creates the learning curve.

My 2 favorite things to do in a fighting game is playing through the story mode for each character and the challenge rooms. Now I don't know if games are changing with time or if I am getting too old to move my fingers, or its being more accommodating to the hardcore gamers and leaving us casual fighters out in the cold. But the last 3 fighting games I played, Mortal Kombat vs DC, Super Street Fighter 4 and this one, all of their challenges are crazy hard to pull off. For example, I could do all the combo challenges for all my PS2 fighting games.

But these, their just insane. I can manage to do the first few, but then they get into 10-15 button sequences. What's worse when they are displaying them on the screen, I can only see the name of what I am suppose to do. So I have to leave that menu, go to another menu, look at the buttons, memorize them and then go back and try to do them. So you get stuff like," Neck Slice - Super Beating - Flash Kick - Low kick( I can assume that one is low kick) - medium punch- Super ultra Max out- Fire wave"......??????

I have no idea what those moves are??..its annoying to have to leave the menu all the time and go look all that up and then try and remember it all. Its not very player friendly, this is delving into hardcore player realm.

Next online....good lord online.....What can I say besides its just as annoying as ever. Imagine if you were playing any of your favourite game genre online, racing, FPS, side scroller. And you end up getting paired against some of the best players online. What happens???....you guessed it, you get your ass handed to you on a regular basis.

The other thing was, I enjoy trying different characters.....but guess who were my opponents for the majority of these games? That's right, Ryu, Akuma and Wolverine. I literally had one guy just spam me with fireballs....it was super annoying and NOT FUN!

There came a point at one match that I just gave up and put down the controller. But the way that the other guy was bouncing me around the stage you swear to god my character was moving all on his own, when in fact he was just getting beat nonstop with combo after combo. I don't think the guy even knew that the character wasn't moving.

The other thing is lobby rooms where you can join up to a 8 game lobby. I thought, that's cool. I'll sit back and watch some people and learn some stuff while I wait for my ass kicking. This has to be the saddest thing in this game. We don't get to see the fighting, instead we see our characters cards that we create online, banging into our opponents character card.

Its the saddest thing I have ever seen in any video game. They couldn't let us watch the match?? Instead we see two cards knocking boots, while 6 other people just sit there with their thumbs up their asses. I mean even in the arcades way back when, you waited for you turn, but you watch the other guys play while you waited. We didn't go sit in some room and stare at wall until we heard our names being called to let us know its our turn. This is down right moronic in my opinion, boring and stupid as all hell.

But I must say, that everyone who knocked the shit outta me, were friendly sportsman like people. It was after my 15 lost in a row, and my 3rd lost to this one particular guy that I quit. He then sent me a message saying, "chickened out!". I kindly responded,"lol, sorry, only so much of a ass whooping I can take before my whole spirit is destroyed and I never want to play this game again....good game"

Over all, I feel that this game caters towards the more hardcore gamers than the laid back gamers. There is a "simple mode"..but I'm not an idiot, I can do combo's and pull off all the moves just fine. But when it gets crazy and I really want to delve into more, it goes from friendly, too you are in the army now boy..so act like it!!

Still lots to do, so I get back with it soon.

Here's a video 1 method to beating Galactus,or just do it yourselves your lazy bums.
