So After a week of tweaks and phone calls and forum help it has come down to this. I am replacing my old PS3 with a new PS3 slim and I WILL lose some data, how much?? I won't know until I do a transfer.
So what did I find out over the past week.
1) The game freezes when I turn it on using the controller.
2) It takes a long time to load to the main menu
3) I get error 80010201 (Unable to connect to the Internet)
4) The error is suppose to be a temporary error, restarting the system doesn't fix it. It doesn't
recognize hard connect or WiFi.
5) Rebooting the system doesn't fix the problem either, its still freezes and I still get the same error.
6) I took it apart( warranty is long gone) to make sure wifi cables were tightly connected. They were loose and I pushed them in snugly but it didn't fix anything.
7)The cost to send it is $255 and it will take about a month and they can't guarantee that I will get my old PS3 back. That they may just send my a new one.
8) Because I took my PS3 apart to try and fix it myself the repair technician may determine that its been tampered with declare that its been modded and because of that, they can refuse to fix it and send it back to me in the same condition is was before I sent it. The guy on the phone actually said, "that if the technician sees that the warranty sticker was removed can make the call to fix it or not, even without opening it up to determine if in fact it was modded or if it was just someone looking to see if something was disconnected." So based of that alone is enough for me to not send it in. I would have paid the shipping and handling fees which come to $75 Canadian and get it back with nothing fixed on it.
9) Because of the possibility of not getting my old PS3 back and instead getting a new one. I still have the old data on my 255 Gig that needs to be transferred. What I found out is that because the Etnernet port on the my old PS3 doesn't work I can't do a straight data utility transfer and get all my copyrighted saved data. So I have to put it on a external hard drive and and swap out the new PS3 120 gig for my old 255 gig, reformat it and then put my saves on that one, but my copyrighted saves won't work. I will lose some saved data. On which games, I don't know yet, I know Street Fighter 4 will lose all its saved data, which other ones??, I just don't know.
Well that does it, I did everything possible, my PS3 is just not working right and all the pieces that I need to work to transfer to a new one is all down. Its almost like starting over again which deeply sickens me to the point of never touching some of my games again. But I won't know how much I will have lost until I do the actual transfer.
So some time in the near future I will have a New PS3 slim. Bleh, nothing is ever easy for me when it comes to technology.

Donkey Kong Jr
I swamped a shit load of quarters into this game at the arcade. It was one of those games that you could wrap, maybe die on the second time around and still put quarters in the game to do it all again.
There something so fun about this game, was it the sound that he made when he climbed the vines or the when he slide down or hit a trap mouth guy with a piece of fruit. That's right, who knew that fruit could be so dangerous.

I've played alot of different versions of this game on almost every system and I think its about time they reboot it and not that stupid Donkey Kong Jr world shit from the N64. I be happy with a simple version of the old game with updated graphics, they did it with Frogger. Although its only 4 levels, there just something so fantastic about it.

This commercial is horrible, I really like that Mario resembles a evil version of himself and whats with all the "save his PAPA!!" O hopsie dat he maksie upie the vinei!!

Red Dead Redemption - Trailer
I have to confess, I never played any of the Grand Theft Auto games or Rockstar Games.
Well, I played GTA once at Darryl's.
My issue with those is that you got no choice but to play a sleazebag. And that doesn't appeal to me. I'm not against playing from the Dark Side, but I like to have to CHOICE to do it or not.
Plus I hate the modern urban vibe it has. Too realistic for my taste.
I am looking forward to Red Dead Redemption though.
I've heard lots of GOOD technical things about the open-worlds of GTA and referred to them as fun games. So I have high hopes for that one.

Games Names
I thought these were pretty funny, Its a "what if" games were named after the most shouted phrase while playing them. If that's the case, then Super Mario Brothers would be called, "JUUUMP!!"I wish I had some time to do some.

What the Hell?!! Music!!
This is what I don't like??? Just listen to that? Can you hear the music here,?!!
Yeah, that's right, some kick ass fighting music!!! Boyaaa, now I'm ready to kick some ass and shoot fireballs from my asshole. WHAT THE FUCK!!??I'm being sarcastic here, who the hell heard that and said,"Yeah man, that sounds like some kick ass fighting music" You sir need your ears cleaned and perhaps raped by a pack of wild dogs!!
This is horrible (To me)!!!This is everything I don't want in a fighter. In regards to music I had the same complaint with Capcom 2 fighting game with the song, "Take me for a Ride". At the time I wasn't familiar with the Japanamation and just thought that somebody was smoking crack to think that this was the best music to put in a fighting game. The same thing for Street Fighter 4, but thank the gods I can go in and turn off music. So my SF4 fighting is fighting to nothing, just the wind between my ears.
I don't mind the over the top visuals for the fighting moves although in my opinion I think they could do with a little toning down, but that's just a minor thing. Its the music that makes me want to stab my earholes out. I know its a style thing, but lordy fuckbutts!Come on!! Listening to the music doesn't get me in the mood to kick ass.
Lets say that every time your going to "get it on" with a lady the song "YMCA" kicks in, its not right!!
LAST Ditch Effort To Save My PS3
So on the advice of my friend Beatfreaker(Jaison), he suggested I back up my PS3 data and then do a reboot of the system, clearing it of all its data.
Then boot her back up and see if the error persists. If it does then its a software issue, those damn updates better not be the cause of my troubles. Heard too many stores of friends PS3 being wonky after updates. One friend his PS3 wouldn't even turn on after the update, coincidence or just bad programming?!
Anyway, this is my last attempt to fix it, if this doesn't work then its a new one and the headache of transferring everything over to that one. Its just like Bruce Willis making a last ditch effort to save the world/building/little kid or Matthew Perry.

Fleeced Shear Terror - IPhone
This is the latest game that the company I work for has released. I thought I give it a little plug has something that you may be interested in.Premise of the game is a little different. You are 2 brothers who are feuding and trying to trip up the other. How??

By getting your llama shaved of course!!! You both have a pen that contains your lama. What you have to do is shoot at your opponents pen to destroy the walls so that the rustler can walk in and shave a bit of your opponents lama. Who ever has a naked lama at the end, loses.

Of course you can upgrade your walls, repair your walls, buy new cannons and upgrade them and repair them. Steal money from your brother, destroy his walls and cannons or just knock him on his ass.

So you have to manage all of that and try to destroy his walls to let in the rustler. Its a fun little title and its on for a limited time at a reduced price. Can't beat cheap!! Plus it got some great reviews from game sites if you want to take a look.
Pocket Gamer Review - Silver Award
Touch Arcade Review
What the critics are saying:
“Shear Terror is just addictive. Better than a drug, and you can get your daily dosage of llamas while you are at it. In fact, you hate llamas if you don't play this game. Fast-paced action strategy game that will keep you playing for hours!”
-musttap.com [Golden Tap Award]
“Cleverly weaving together action and strategy, Fleeced! - Shear Terror epitomises creative design and competitive fun.”
-pocketgamer.co.uk [Silver Award]
“Nothing says "shear terror" like a good old fashioned brother vs. brother llama farm cannon battle, and Fleeced! – Shear Terror (developed by Bight Interactive Inc.) delivers that action in spades. This is the a revamp of the "castle defense" genre that absolutely works, and it even comes with online multiplayer.”
-toucharcade.com
This is all I could find at the moment, feel free to search for yourself. Its very well received!!
I had alot of fun animating the video.

What to Do Now!?
So I guess my PS3 is out of commission, I can still play games on it, but a big portion of my gaming is online. So what do I play now? I was in the middle of doing Fallout 3 and Battlefield 1943.
I could go and finally play Final fantasy 12 FINALLY. That has been sitting on my shelf for over a year now. Perhaps now is a good time?

I was going to wait awhile before I picked up Mass Effect 2 because honestly, I am not a big fan of the series. Its a good game and all, but not something that I would run too for my first game choice.

I found myself going back and playing alot of my PC games from travelers tales and Torchlight. Really fun games, perhaps I will invest into a new PC game.

Perhaps I will just dive into my old collection of NES and SNES games, those are always a hoot to play and curse at.

Anywho, it will be a while before I replace my PS3, so I guess I should choose something to do soon. But Torchlight ISSS keeping me entertained.

PS3 Error 80010201 Update
So I took apart my PS3 to reconnect the loose WiFi cable. It was relatively easy to take it apart to get to this cable. When I got to the cable it wasn't in all the way. So I pulled it out and clipped it back in place and it was tighter. So I was certain that this would fix it.
Put it all back together and started it up and BANG!! Error pops up again and the same things are happening. So what do I do now??!! Did I not push the chord in far enough. I mean the ONLY SOLUTION I could find online was just that. Its the the Wifi chord, its not plugged in.
But what I would really like to know is someone from Sony to say, "Error 80010201 means THIS". Doesn't a number mean something specific?? Think how easy things could be if every problem came with a number to determine what the error is. It doesn't make sense that no one knows what that error number means, its all speculation and guesses.
What do I do now?, well I could risk taking the whole thing apart, fan, blueray reader and gut the thing so I reach the plug where the Internet cable goes plugged into, but since it doesn't recognize wireless I doubt that would do any good.
So my next option is to get a new PS3. So for now, my PS3 is out of commission and it will be some time before I can afford to get a new one. Then its the whole ordeal of transferring all my data from my old one to my new one. But since I have a 255 Gig in my old one, can't I just swap out the hard drives and everything would be OK???
I have alot to look into. It still plays games, it just doesn't recognize any wifi connections and every second time you turn it on, it freezes and doesn't recognize the controllers. I am Sooo disappointed with it, no machine that you pay $800 should crap out on you. My PS2 is still running and works just fine, no problems at all. All these NEXT gen systems can kiss my arse!!

PS3 Error 80010201
So I get home tonight, turn on the PS3 and the first thing I see is error 80010201 and I can't use the controller. Its hard connected but nothing happens, it just blinks on and off. So I turned the system off and then back on again.
This time I still get the error but my controller works fine. What I am noticing is that it takes longer for my PS3 to load up. This is also followed by not connecting to the Internet. Its not the Internet chord, I tried 2 with different systems and it works on one and not the other. So the chords are fine, its not the Internet connection it works for the computer.
Point being it doesn't even recognize that it is connected and gives me that error. I've restarted many times and each time it goes back and fourth between the controller not working to working and every time not connection to the Internet. It doesn't recognize any Internet at all, has if the PS3 plug where I plug in the Internet chord is broken.
I searched the Internet to see what this problem is and what to do to fix it and of course I am met with,"nothing you can do, get a new one, send it away," and then repeating all the mundane steps that I already done a dozen times over.
I did find 2 helpful things, one a video of a kid who is having the same error on you tube but with no solution.
The other thing is a thread about a guy saying to take apart my PS3 and make sure that these two connections are secure. This method seems to have worked for the guy asking while everyone elses answers never got a response.
http://www.avforums.com/forums/ps3-hardware/1147086-ps3-error-code-80010201-a.html

Other than not connecting to the Internet and the every second time I turn it on it doesn't recognize the controllers, it plays fine. So what do I do??! The warranty is long gone, its one of the first 60Gig and I already tampered with it by putting in a new 255 Gig Hardrive. Do I risk taking it apart and hoping that this is the problem?
I mean this is the ONLY answer I could find that gave a solution and the person asking got it to work. It's funny cause today one of the gaming podcast I listen too, one of the hosts PS3 died today, which got me thinking, "Gee, I'm pretty lucky so far, I hope mine doesn't die"
Well its not dead, but its not working properly either. I'll keep a post of how all this turns out. Also if anyone has any answers, please let me know. You think Sony would know what these errors mean, but nope. I guess computers make up random numbers on their own.

Leaked Halo: Reach Screens
It turns out some Halo Reach screens were leaked by EBGames accidentally but something tells me they were not ready to be shown. I wonder if this Halo will live up to the fans expectations?

The Controllers in My Life
Over the years, game controllers have changed drastically to what we first saw to some rare and sometimes awful results. I know there are tons of controllers out there, but this is just a list of the one that I grew up with and what I thought of each.
Atari 2600
My first gaming controller, never had anything to compare it to besides the arcades and I thought it did the job well. I liked it. I give it 4 My Little Ponies.

Atari 2600 Upgrade
I got this flight simulator type controller, had the trigger where you would fire bullets, I thought it was the coolest thing I ever seen. But then you start to use it and it just didn't feel right. It was too big and more often than not if you played 2 player, I would end up giving this monster to my friend where they all had the same reaction. "That's so cool" But after 5 min of playing you just want to have the normal controller.
Atari 2600 Paddles
The pong paddles I thought AGAIN were amazing. It was like getting a new system, but after the AWWWW wears off I preferred my old controller. All these things had a great wow factor for me but the feel of them just didn't sit well.
Coleco
This one was wrong, wrong, wrong. I think the Atari spoiled me because when I got my hands on this I just wanted to throw it across the room. All the numbers the clicking on the side, I didn't like it. Maybe if I played with this controller first I would have had a better appreciation for it. But overall, I hated the Coleco Controller.

Vectrex
This felt like a thing all its own. I didn't mind that it was shaped differently than everything else I had played to this point. The controller was cool looking, it snapped into the console and it was easy to use. I had alot of fun playing the Vextrex.

Nintendo Entertainment System
I mean I am fine with the controller now, but when I first played with it, it hurt my hands.
I remember playing double dragon for the first time and the controllers edges just digging into my palms. It hurt, but to get around this you do what prisoners do to get used to sleeping on crappy beds. You use it till it hurts.
Genesis
Yaaay, it has round edges. Seriously, I loved the fact that it was sleek and curvy has compared to the box NES one. It did feel rather large compared to coming off the NES controller, but once I got used to it, it ranks up there with one of my all time favorites.

Genesis Turbo
I asked for a second controller for friends and my mom got me the Turbo. It was a little larger than the original and never did feel quite right. It was great for side scrolling space shooters, but never felt right for anything else.

Super Nintendo Entertain System
This was the first introduction where there were shoulder buttons. I admit that it took getting used too, but it was a very well design game controller. Has far has Nintendo goes, this is my favorite Controller from them.
N64
This was crap, I hated the C buttons. Depending on what game I was playing I had to change how I was holding the controller. I don't like that kinda thing, I want to feel like the controller isn't fighting me, where am I now, what button am I pressing. BOOO, my worst game controller.

Sega Dreamcast
This controller was a beast, it felt like I was holding the console. BUT the button placement felt good to me. My first game I played on this, Darkstalkers I was able to do super moves and combos with ease. So I had a good time with this, its weird but it does the job.
PS1-2-3
In my opinion, the best of the best. It was the beginning of the end for me. I couldn't play anything else. If I got a controller for my PC it was PS type controller. Everything feels where it should be and I shit my pants when I heard they were changing the PS3 to a banana controller. This is an instance where if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

PS2 Mortal Kombat
I got this cause I like Baraka and I wanted a good gaming controller. Unfortunately, this wasn't it. Yeah, sure it looks good, but it plays like ass. So for now, it sits in a box looking good.
Xbox
I'm not shitting on Xbox (sheesh, you cant say anything bad about Micosofts Xbox line without fanboys jumping all over you) But I couldn't get use to it, it felt clunky and cumbersome.

Nintendo Wii
Surprisingly, this felt great. I played several games with the wii set up and it works well. I'm sure there are game that suck with the remote, but I enjoyed my experiences with the Wii remote. Good on Nintendo!!

Xbox 360
This one felt sleeker than the first one. The contours are much better and just had a better weight to it. I prefer this one to the original any day.

Battlefield 1943 - PSN

I had tons of fun when I first played this game so many years ago. It was my first experience with Lan games. The school that I went too had a bunch of work computers, so in the evenings we would use them to play battlefield and it couldn't have been more fun. Years later they release it for DLC with a updated look.
If you have played the original with Wake Island and Coral Sea, then this is exactly that. Don't expect all new weapons or vehicles. Its just good ole online Battlefield 194 and its a blast to play. With the exception of calling in bomb runs, I don't remember that in the old version, but its fun to fly in 3 bombers and blast the hell out of a area and to shoot them down if the other team is calling them in.

Unlike TMNT DLC this reboot feels great. Running around and capturing the flag with either the rifleman, infantry or snipers. I didn't feel rushed in the game, even if we lost I still felt like I had accomplished something. Whether I was practicing flying the plane and dropping bombs or driving around in the car or trying to knife somebody. It was all fun and I didn't feel a sense of urgency or hurry up to finish the level like I did with Fat Princess. The time of each match felt great not too long and not too short, certainly something you can jump into and play for 15-20 min and leave feeling like you've had a great time.

Things that bother me are the occasional lag which makes shooting anything impossible. We are all familiar with this and its a pain when it happens. Luckily it doesn't happen too often so its doesn't feel like it hinders the game.
The other thing and this isn't a knock on "this" game, I mean it could be any online game. And that is the Assholes who you are suppose to be on your team. Just last night I jumped into a plane and some idiot on my own team is dropping TNT on my plane has I am getting ready to take off. Great!!! BUT....when I got into the air he detonated the bombs and it didn't hurt me. I was surprised because I had the same thing happen with ground vehicles and when they detonate them I usually end up dead.

The other thing is communicating. I can't talk to the members of my team unless they are in my squad which seems kinda silly. I think you should be able to talk to all my teammates. But its small bologna's. I got this game when it was on sale for $10.49 and I think I got a great deal.
The price tag of $14.99 was what kept me from getting this from day one. Lots of fun if you are a fan of the original. If you get this, look me up so we can cause havoc on the battlefields of 1943.

The Game that Got Away!!

Growing up has a kid there were games that seemed unattainable. They were too much money, they are on a different system that was super expensive and I already used up my birthday and Christmas game request for that year. So the only way I could see these was to look at screen shots form the Nintendo Power Magazine or see commercials for them on TV.
For me that game was Bonk's Adventure. Played on the sleek Turbo Graphx 16. It was a machine that looked like it was dragged back from the future and had rockets attached somewhere inside.
I wanted this game and I knew short of a miracle I was never going to get to play it. I already had a Nintendo and I had read and seen teaser pics in magazines of this thing called Genesis. So when it came down to it, the little blue hedgehog won out a tiny bald man. But I always went back and looked at screen shots of a game that someday wanted to play.

But has you get older those feelings(excitement) that you have has a kid over wanting something badly, disappears. So after years of gaming I pretty much forgot about the game, always in the back of my mind has the one that got away.

Until recently I saw that it was going to be released for the Wii has DLC. Well then, that's great, I don't own a Wii. I would like to pay for this game, but dammit, its been 21 years now since I first laid eyes on this game. I'm gonna end up grabbing a mod of this and playing it on the PC. I would like to have it for a console (that I own), but if I can't get it legally, I plan on being a pirate and doing pirate things, ARrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
