System Flaw - DSi
The trailer looks beyond awful!
And the game doesn't look that much better either.
I love that their game review quotes are from "game review".
Violent Video Games go to Supreme Court
The government of California wants to make a law that makes it illegal to sell Mature games to people under 18. If someone is caught doing so,they can be charged and fined.
Is this right? IF so, then I agree. I mean its the parents responsibility to monitor what their kids are playing AND the retailers know that these mature games are only meant for people 18 and up. If that's the case, then how are kids 17 and under able to play games rated "M". I mean "I" know how, but you've got to question it when you are playing a multiplayer match in GTA4 and all of sudden you hear the voice of prepubescent boy screaming at you.
So this kid is playing a game meant for adults. So he either has a older sibling who owns the game or his parents got it for him not realizing /caring what it was or the retailers sold it to him because they don't care.
Well if that law comes into effect, then at least you eliminate the retailers portion of it. But to be honest, most kids get their hands on the games becuase their parents get them for their kids. So how can a retailer stop from selling a M rated game to an adult who is then going to turn around and give it to their 15 year old kid.
On the other hand, this one law may be a stepping stone to the more exaggerated laws of banning violent video games all together. IF that's the case than video games are the same has books and movies. We might aswell ban those too.
It all boils down to COMMON SENSE. Which the human society lacks in bucket loads.

Flower - PSN

After possible having one the most stressful weeks at work, when the weekend came I was looking forward to forgetting my troubles with some mindless gaming.
Well, it didn't help. I still felt like I needed to punch holes in things. But for several fleeting moments, I played Flower. I have never in my whole entire life played a game that is so relaxing and serene that this game.

It does a fantastic job of taking you into a world of ..well.. nothing and making it seem so blissful. The wind, the sound of the grass, the beautiful music that accompanied the game play. The sounds and chimes that the flowers made has you passed over them. It was all incredible, I completely understand why this game has won and is still winning countless awards.
It is unlike anything a gamer have ever played, its amazing. Flying over the grass and streaking around the hills is so , well I don't know how many times I can repeat myself. But RELAXING!!
It really did help calm me and make me feel less likely to punch holes in things. This game is a must have for all PS3 owners. If you have GOW 3 and Uncharted 2 then the next game on that list should be Flower. The videos just don't do it justice, its something that has to be experienced.

Anywho, this game really appeals to me and what makes it even better, its being released for $39.99. SOLD!!!! Done and Done.

I love art books for animated movies. But they don't seem to release them very often (or at least in easily available numbers) for video games.
The last one I got was for Final Fantasy IX. Yeah, it's been a while.
But Uncharted 2 is getting one! I can't believe I just found out!

I'll definetly be picking up a copy. Available July 1st according to amazon.ca.

My 12th Platinum - Fallout 3
By far the longest time I have ever spent trying to get a platinum. I looked at all the trophies before I play most games to get an idea of the kinda of stuff they are asking you to do and then go ahead and play the game normally and see what happens.
After the first play through with just playing the game normally. I then go back and start hunting. Well , you can't do that with this game. There is no playing through for the first time, especially if you want to miss the "get to level, 8,14,20 with good, neutral or bad karma" trophy.
Besides that there are a number of trophies that you have one chance to get and if you miss that chance, then you have start a new game and play countless hrs to get back to that same spot. Not very helpful in a game that's 60 plus hrs.
So, were any of these trophies hard?? No, none of them. What makes them hard is the fact that if you miss them, then you got to start a new game and play countless hrs to get them, which is happened to me.
I had this happened with one particular mission, "Its Strictly Business". I was playing the main quest, where it had me going to Paradise Falls to rescue some kids from slavers. Well, since I was playing has a good guy, I don't do business with slavers, especially ones that kidnap children. In fact, these horrible people needed to be taken out.
So I went in with guns blazing and killed all the slavers and rescued all the children. Then after the main quest was over I went back to do the side quest. One of them was to talk to a slaver in Paradise Falls. .....You mean the same guy that I shot in the head 22 hrs ago?? That guy??
Well then, that doesn't help me. In order for me to get this ONE quest, I had to start a new game and play well into 5 hrs before I could even remotely get to this area. Trying to run into a area of super mutants at level 3 with a pistol is suicide. It was ridiculous hard but I managed to get it.
With that, came my 12 Platinum. GOD!!....boy was this long. RPG's are nuts when it comes to trophies. This being my first RPG trophy what I learned is that if you want to get them, you will have to spoil certain things in the game, otherwise you could end up missing something which results in going back and redoing the whole entire game again. A 6-10 game is one thing, a 60-90 game is MONSTROUS!!!
A thought which my friend Matt does is to make many, many saves all through-out the game. This will sure help you out if you want to go back to a certain point and redo something different.

Fallout 3 - PS3
If I wrote a review that was the equivalent to the time I spent in the game, it would be 97 pages long. Yup, 97 hrs is the amount of time I put into Fallout 3 with 3 DLC packs still to complete.Boy was I glad to have done that last mission. Is the game good? its odd, cause Yes and No.
It was like a movie or novel, there were parts that I liked and parts that I didn't. But overall, I enjoyed myself.
The game really makes it hard on the player in the beginning, when I say the beginning, I don't mean the first hr, I mean the first 10-15 hrs. But once it hits its stride, it becomes much more fun.
I can only take 1 RPG every once in awhile and I really don't want to see another FPS/RPG for quite some time. They are so involved and my play style of having to find everything makes for a in-depth experience. Its just the way I play, I feel if I don't explore every nook and cranny then I may be missing out on something.
So eventually I will go back at some point and finish the final 3 DLC packs, but for right now I have to move on to something else. I have been playing Fallout 3 since February and its time I put it aside. There's too many other games that I would like to play. So for now Mr Fallout 3, I bid you goodbye, well played good sir, well played.

Stupid People saying Stupid Things about Video Games
Anybody can have a opinion on anything, that's the way the world is. BUT, if you are going to go out and stand up for something that you believe in, then please. LOOK SHIT UP FIRST!! Just don't CRAP on it because you are ignorant, which obviously everyone involved in this interview is, except one guy.
Its the high and mighty and ignorant bigotry set out on a witch hunt and the poor guy doing his best saying," Common Sense" I mean the first comment about video games are that they are like movies with a ratings system. And DING BAT says, well you can't stop kids from going in their homes and putting a video game on"
WHAT WHAT!! PDFDFHFFTTT, WHHAAATT!! The guy just said that movies and games both have ratings on them that doesn't allow retailers to sell to minors. Its the PARENTS who are responsible for their kids.
Right from the start we know its going to be a video game bash a thon. These people, Idiots, Morons, un-informed Ignorant Biased ..ARRGGHH. SMASH!!!!
KID,"MOM, I want GTA4"
MOM,"Oh, whats that game about"
KID," You drive around in any car you want, doing missions in this Giant city"
MOM," Ohh, a Driving game! Well then I will get it for your birthday"
KID," Thanks MOM, I can't wait to fuck a Hooker!!!!"
MOM,"What was that??"
KID,"What??!, ......I just said : I can't wait to Fire a Hooter"
MOM,"WHAT!!"
KID,"When I get older, I want to own a HOOTERS Club and then Fire a Hooters employee for not going down on me during her interview"
MOM,"Oh, well then. Glad to see you have ambition dear, I will get that GEA5 game for you today".
OOOPS, more brain gone, forgot how to poop correctly. If you'll excuse me, I have to head over to Curtis's and poop in his shoe.
Mega Man 10 Dynamic Theme - PSN

I said I would never buy any theme/avatar related stuff for the Xbox or PS3. Well last night, with the latest store update they released a Megaman 10 Dynamic Theme.
I am big on the 80's Nostalgia stuff. So to have a bunch of pixel related selections with Megaman has the theme, pleased me greatly!
The only thing I don't like about it is the sound level, its really loud compared to the rest of the games. It's like those TV commercials that are super loud compared to the program you were watching. The sounds are all Mega man related, shoots, deaths, etc. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, i like simple pixel stuff. I would like some more please:)

Apprently there are 2 Dynamic Themes for Megaman, I have the superduper new one.

DAmn Damn, Diddly Do Dang Diggety Poop!!
This is what happens when I don't do side quest first. So I get to the very last mission in Fallout 3 and before I go ahead and finish it, I decide to go back and do the side missions.
Low and behold, one of the side quest says, to go look for this guy in paradise falls and bring back 4 slaves to him.?????????
What?!
One of the main missions had me going to Paradise Falls to rescue some kids. I was told that Paradise Falls is a place where slaves live and they kidnapped children.
Well my thinking was, since I am playing the game has a good guy, slavers who kidnap little kids arn't the type of people I want to associate with.
So when I got to the area, I sneaked in to a area and sniped the guards from afar. The alarms went off and the rest of the Paradise Falls came gunning for me. It was a glorious battle and they all died a horrible death.
FANTASTIC, I single handed killed an entire camp of slavers. Slavers who kidnap children, this is a good day.
Now you are telling me that one of the quest is to go to Paradise Falls and talk to this slaver guy. The same slaver guy I shot in the head 20 hrs ago????!!!!
Well that's just FAnnnn FRRRIIKKEEN TASSSTIC!!!!
Well, got some replaying to do.

God of War Collection (God of War II) - PS3

I have to confess, I started playing GoW II before finishing the first one. That was during the first frustrating part of my previous post and I felt I needed a breather while my fury over that STUPID part blew over.
There, now I can resume GoW II in one word : gorgeous.
The art direction is so much better then the original. Environments of areas are distinct and gorgeous. The whole thing takes place in a believable place.
The first game took place in a humongous temple build by a --- human --- to protect Pandora's Box. As much as I tried to suspend belief, I could not reconcile myself with a mere human creating such an undertaking.
Now most of the second game takes place in the palace/temple of the Fates who control even the gods' ... well ... fates. So everything is grand, pompous and crumbling with age. I loved it. All the areas had a distinct flavour that was spot on.

I can't vouch for the look of the game on the PS2, but the PS3 made me sit and just watch in some parts. It was just that gorgeous to me. Very few PS3 native games have done that for me. The use of lighting, bloom, dust, composition. Everything was great. It was in this game that I mostly got annoyed that the camera isn't controllable, because I wanted to look at things. Everything was vibrant and skillfully crafted. Bravo!!!
The gameplay was essentially the same as the first one, so nothing different was experienced there. Well, there were the Pegasus parts and the acquisition of Icarus' wings. That was nice. The game had not dumb frustrating parts. But the tweak was some environments/enemies were enormous and felt like it. Fighting the Colossus at the start blew my mind ... until the battle transferred IN IT!!! So A+ for that!
I felt the story was very tight and kept me wanting to play. It did jumble greek mythology by throwing known figures at you and your main mode of communication was ... well ... killing them. But I enjoyed that a lot. I did find it a bit off-putting (as in the first game) that this supposedly unreachable place is still very populated with corpses of people who obviously DID reach it. They didn't succeed, but they still made it there. But, no matter.
I've heard/read many people who thought the ending was a let-down. I guess I can understand why. But I didn't feel it, because the third game was out and waiting for me to pick it up. Again, I didn't have to wait years before continuing the story. HAHAHA! Suckers! ;) That review I will dutifully fulfill later.
The one thing that kind of bothered me (if I have to find something negative) is that they took out the boss health bars. So I was going about a little bit more blindly as to if I was hitting them correctly. But, I still did succeed in the end.

God of War Collection (God of War I) - PS3

I had never played any of the God of War games, except a bit of the first level. It never really appealed to me. But when the collection edition came out, I figured it was a pretty good deal for two games.
I really liked them both and it's also nice to play the sequel right after I was done with the first one. No waiting two-plus years for me! Hahahah!
Anyway on to the first one, being Gow I:
The updated graphics are really nice. They kept it simplified and cartoony, which makes it very appealing to the eye. The shapes seem a bit stylized, which is good to keep that "epic story" look, in my opinion.
The gameplay was gleefully over the top, with Kratos hacking and slicing skillfully with his many combos and weapons. Which utlimatelty were lost on me, since I used my basic weapon upgraded to max and used the same reliable combo. :P
Although, as much as Kratos is proficient with the slicing, he's not so much with the platforming. He pretty much handles like a big ham with knives. Especially when negotiating beams. A few sequences requiring skills were an exercise in frustration.
Speaking of frustration, two parts of the game made me temporarily hate the game and want to throw the controller at my cat. And not in the spirit of Kratos' anger.
There's a part towards the end, in the Cliffs of Madness where you have to push a block to make you jump to a ledge before spikes on a timer come up and kill you. Fair enough, that's nothing new. But the frustrating thing is they give you very little time to do it. So much little that I wasn't even sure if that was what I was supposed to do, even though it seemed evident. I thought I was doing something wrong, since I was dying all the time SO MANY TIMES!!! It even made me look at a walkthrough (something rare that requires me being stumped). And when even that failed to help, except to confirm that I was indeed trying to do the right thing (one FAQ even had the gall to say that you had plenty of time to do it!!!! NO!!!!) I had to look up a video that SHOWED me how to do it. Bah!!! I finally did it after A FEW HOURS of the same crap. ANGER!
The second part wasn't angering as it was tedious. When you're at the end, climbing out of Hades, there is a part where you have to climb a rotating column with blades on it. It becomes a tedious pattern memorization as you go up. And make one mistake, you come tumbling down and have to redo the entire thing. No forgiveness. So, after close to two hours, I make it up the damn thing. Finally, I think! And then I come to another ... AUUUUGH! And by that time, I had to turn in for the night and of course there were no save points. So I had to turn it off, knowing that I would have to do it all over again. Bah!
I did like that boss monsters had lifebars. There's nothing I hate more then fighting for a while and discovering that the whole time I was actually not doing any damage. At least that makes results evident and I like that.
The story was satisfying. I found it perfectly greek.
The tricked-up mythology creatures were also very cool. At first, I thought they're gritty look would bother me, but it didn't. They ARE monsters after all, I realized. And this isn't Disney. And I loved the end, which is rare for me in games.
All in all, I really loved GoW I except for the couple of parts and I was looking forward to playing the sequel.

Take the Nuka Cola Challenge
I am one quest away from finishing the main story with lots of side quest still to do. One of those is the Nuka Cola Challenge. This side quest is so tedious, especially if you are doing this quest and nothing else. But I think it was meant to be one of those quest that you work on while doing other quest and the main story. What you have to do is collect 30 rare Nuka Cola Quantum for someone. There are a total of 92 in the main game. I have been finding them from day one, but I haven't been keeping them. I have either been using them or dropping them and selling them. I didn't see any reason to keep them.
That is until you get this quest which I got at the very end of the game. This sucks, you know how hard it is to find those stupid Nuka Cola Quantum?? If I had known from the start I would have been saving them, I know I had at least over a dozen ,maybe even more. How many do I have now? 2.GREAT!!

I have the game almost done, a handful of side quest, and to end the game with a tedious fetch quest is stupid. I don't mind using walk through guides, I don't mind knowing what I have to do. In fact, in some cases it enhances my game play because I'm not wasting valuable items/perks.
This is one that I would have like to have known about from Day 1. I am going to continue with the other side quest and see how many I can come up with, but more than likey I'll have to hunt around the wasteland for them all.
There is a option to get a perk that allows you to convert 10 regular nuka colas into a Quantum. So I thought that was great, I got 50 plus in my fridge. But then I find out that I can't use COLD Colas for conversion. That just sucks ballz, what a waste of time. This is the worst, least fun quest in the entire game. But you take the good with the bad and they all must be done.

Whats Wrong with the World!!??
"April 7, 2010 - Activion announced that the Stimulus Package, the first map pack released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, was downloaded over one million times on Xbox Live in the first 24 hours of its release on March 30.
Priced at $14.99, first-week sales reached 2.5 million downloads in total. The Stimulus Package is currently only available for download on Xbox Live, making these sales all the more impressive for Activision.
Comparatively, first-week sales of the first map pack for Call of Duty: World at War reached one million downloads across Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, and only cost $10 at launch."
What the FUCK is wrong with people, when this news first came out all the game sites forums and comments were all in a up roar about Activision charging too much and that the gamer is being ripped off.
I don't know what to say??
1) If you didn't complain about it and bought the packs, then that ok. You see that its all ok and went with it.
2) If you did complain and bought it anway, (which alot of people were doing in comments) then you are a idiot!
How will companies learn that they can't rip of gamers with High prices. Good lord, have some self control and respect for yourself has a consumer!!
Its like a crack whore who sucks off the homeless dude in the alley because he promises you 25 cents and in the end all he has is a bottle cap. Then he turns around and says, "oh wait, here is the 25 cents, but seeing has I just gave you a bottle cap you'll have to give the ole one eye a tug again". And like the moron you are, you go right back to work for that purposed 25 cents.
It Hurts the brain to see numbers like that, cause all it does is make you all talk and no action. Then to hear all the complaining, ARRHHGG,m dhdkfjsdhfkjshdkhsdfsdlf, God damit people!!
Either buy the shit and live with, but don't open your god damn mouth about how unfair it is if you buy it anyway because good ole Activision doesn't care what you think, only the money that you fork over.
So if you like getting F'd in the bum region, then by all means, take it up the woohoo and keep your mouth shut!!!I would love to get the marvel ulitmate alliance 2 extra characters pack, but I ain't paying for it. Same with Transformers, War for Cybertron, I'm waiting for a second hand copy. Is this too hard to do?! are we a bunch of mine, mine, now, now?? From the looks of it, I guess we are.

Fat Princess is Getting Free Stuff
This update includes:

- Warrior: Fixed to disallow shield activation when carrying objects, as well as attenuating damage against lava and drowning.
- Ice Mage: Changed level 1 area attack to slow enemies, not freeze them.
- Soccer map: Disabled online score saving for this level ( it was too easy to gain rank)
All this for FREE!!! I mean updates are a dime a dozen and most times we really don't see much of a change.
But to get 2 free Maps, that is pretty cool and for free. I mean they could have easily charge money for these, but it is fantastic to see studios giving back to the gamers.
This all comes at a time that I just started getting back into the game and now with the new Maps, I am even more enthused to play this game again. Getting into matches have become easier because more people are playing the new maps.
And this isn't all, there is talks that even more maps are coming out AND new fighter classes, ninjas and pirates. This is all great news for a game that wasn't receiving anything new to keep players in game. I said recently that I would get this game if you only want to play with friends and only if it goes on sale. Well , with the new maps and the new support coming up, I recommend getting this and have a good time.

Colour quality in games
Actually, even that term bugs me because it should be "Current Gen", shouldn't it?
Why “next-gen games” went gray, brown, and grey.
The Producer Says So.
Not all producers are sneaky bastards, its just their job to make the product seem like Gold is shining from their ass. The best example of this is listening to the commentary and behind the scenes feature in a animated film called Hoodwinked and horror slasher movie,Wrestlemaniac. (there are more, this is just to give an example) Anywho, both films blow monkey balls, they look horrible, the plot is horrendous, the acting sucks. There is nothing good about these movies.
So when you get to the end and you listen to the Producers talk about these movies, you swear to god that they just made the next Schindler's List. So take what you hear from producers with a grain of salt. They are required to make what ever they are working on sound like God's next biggest miracle, whether it is true or not.
So that is why, when listening to this person talk about the next spiderman game, I roll my eyes and take it with has much seriousness has choking on jello.(None of this applies to you Josh, your Awesome!!)

PSN Home Gets Trophies!?

What the hell is this?! I enjoy doing the challenges within games and if there's a trophy attached then so much the better. But this is set out to the REAL trophy whores, people who love to do nothing but add to their score rather than the enjoyment of hunting for them.
For the love of God, one of the trophies is spend $20 at the mall. REAL MONEY!! Why not just put trophies up for sale, its the same thing. If you can sell a Gold trophy for $20 bucks, then a silver would be $12 and a Bronze would be $6. And a Platinum would go for $30, go ahead and do that Sony, I bet you people would buy it!!

Gears of War 2 : Co-op - Xbox 360
So a year later and I finally got around to finishing Gears of War 2 in Co-op on Hardcore. Overall, its a fun game, I wouldn't call it the best FPS I ever played but if be up there in the top 10.I think Hype has alot to do with it has well, hearing about Gears of War and then the Gears of War fanboys who say there is no better game. But to be honest, I don't think I can make a fair judgment of the game. Only the Co-op portion, I didn't play it on single player and I never played the multiplayer either. But based off the Co-op experience, its a decent game. I wasn't blown away by anything in the game, but it was fun.
So things that I liked and didn't like.
Dislike.
1)Voice acting. Good god, the writing and voice acting in this is horrible. The screaming over the top redneck gang related American soldier. Is that a good enough description for ya?! I dreaded every single time any of the characters opened their mouths. "BOOYYYAAAAA, take that you Mutha F@#KIN Bitches!!! AAArrrggggg, the voice acting some may say is suppose to be that way, over the top. Well saying that something is SUPPOSE to be that way, doesn't make it any better.
"OHHH, they are suppose to sound like annoying idiots all the time, well then. That makes a world of difference, I am enjoying the game so much better now that I know that".
2)Any game that has the cover button the same button for running and jumping. It doesn't have to be this game, this refers to any game that uses this feature. I died countless, NUMEROUS, TOO MANY FRIKKEN TIMES, when I wanted to dash to a area and instead I hugged the side of the wall which resulted in my death. That split second that means the difference between surviving and getting killed is all hinged upon being too close to a wall that my character wants to hug his back too.
Those were my 2 biggest gripes. Its not a bad game by no means, but those 2 things really ekked me.What I would have liked to see is more co-op involvement, such has one guy holding a baddie and the other one going up to him and maybe sawing him in half. More team based kills like that, that would have been nice to see, but that can apply to any co-op game. Just something that would seem to fit here rather well.
The split screen was good, I didn't feel it hampered or took away anything from the game. And even though both of us are on the screen at the same time. I still found myself shouting out, "where are you?". While a quick glance up would tell me just that, so the game does a great job of putting you in the experience.Overall, it was a fun game and even though I didn't play it on my own. The co-op experience is a nice touch to most games and this one is a great game to play with friends.

Games I Do, Games I Don't

So a new month begins and a new list of games are list to come out this month. I need a month with no games coming out, or at least a month, how about 2 where there are no games coming out that interest me, at the least.
There are way too many games being released and I want to play and I don't have the time or money to play them all.
So March is over and I purchased one game(which is good) Battlefield Bad Company 2. But I still wanna play Heavy Rain, God of War 3. 2 more games that I will want to go through multiple times to get the full experience.
Now we have April and a new list is coming out. More games that I won't get around too. One being Monster Hunter 3, but since I don't own a Wii I don't feel too bad about not getting to it. I'm not going to buy a Wii because I am interested in one game. (I know they have a good selection of games)But I haven't gotten around to playing all the good selection of games from the 360 and PS3. The last thing I need is another list of games to play on another console.
On the other hand Super Street Fighter 4 I will be getting. Mainly to replace the one that I lost all my data too. Plus I like all the features and with a price point of $39.99. That's a good deal!
The other being Splinter Cell, but I know I won't get around to this one.
Anyway, I want a month or 2 of games that don't interest me. I long for the year that nothing good game out. That was a good year, was able to catch up on all my games and get the full experience outta them, ahhh. Good stuff.
