Tomb Raider : Underworld - PS3

For fear of turnip throwing hippos ...

My "experience" with Tomb Raider dates way back to the first one on the PS1. I have played TR1 and loved it. TR2 ... not so much. And my interest in the series fell to the wayside, until a few years ago when Lady Croft came to the X360, riding in on Crystal Dynamic's TR: Legend. I really enjoyed that one, and went to get TR: Anniversary, which was like playing the first one all over again.

So, when TR: Underworld came out, I happily got it. And that is when my Xbox died, when I put it in. Did Lara kill my Xbox? Maybe.

Anyway, it would lay in limbo for about a year. I REFUSE to get my 360 fixed for now, on principle. So, I saw it as a cheapy on sale for the PS3. I figured I might as well, since I still wanted to play it and the previous game ending on a cliffhanger of sorts, I wanted to finish the story. Hopefully.

Let's get this out of the way: I hate water levels in TR. Because of the 3D floating gameplay, I always freak out whenever anything comes at me from behind because I can't hear it coming.

So, what's the FIRST level of Underworld? It starts with a freaking huge open water level. Filled with damn sharks that charge you from behind. I had to go and find some keys to open the door to the underwater city WHILE not getting killed by the sharks. I hated it. Way to start a game by making me hate it. At least the oxygen thing has been taken care of in this game with Lara having an external reserve of air.

And this sets the bar for the rest of the game. It seems that most of the areas are large and open, but with every one requiring you to find some randomly dropped key element to mechanisms hidden SOMEWHERE in them. So, as opposed to how the other games I've played before felt (exploring to figure out puzzles), you mostly run around the stages, killing everything and just trying to find where the keys are.

And some of them are REALLY idiotically placed. Like I spent HOURS looking for a "key" that at first I didn't even know I had to get. I went through the entire stage and came back to the entrance to find that there was missing a piece in the exit opening mecanism. So I had to go back and search ALL OVER THE STAGE for it. How fun is that, looking for one little thing in a large empty temple? And it was simply dropped somewhere insignificant, among other rocks in some random non-descript dark corner. Ian was not happy.

I did ALL the other TR games without looking at cheats or walkthroughs to finish them. Except this one and I held out as long as possible. It is filled with things that if you don't KNOW where to look, you can't find it by any other means then luck.

Sadly, the levels felt generic and repetitive. The story didn't even hold me. I actually didn't care. The focus of this game is the mythological underworlds of different cultures. But they all just felt like generic empty temples. Nothing to set them apart from any other TR tombs explored in the past.

And the levels are more then ever built around Lara's motorcycle. In fact, many of the puzzles REQUIRE you to use a motorcycle. Good thing ancient civilizations had the foresight to think of that! So many levels are just vast expanses of little hubs connected to long stretches of road. And you have to cart many times going back and forth between them. BOOOOORIIIIIIIING! And I hate driving levels. I suck at driving. I had to restart in one instance because I got stuck between a wall and a plant. That sucked.

The graphics are serviceable. Some occasional pretty moments, but nothing overly inspiring.

The traps were rare and far between. And they felt very uninspired and downright lazy sometimes.

And they changed something from the previous games. They got rid of the quicktime events (which I personally don't really mind) to just masked quicktime events where everything goes into slow motion .... So, it's basically still quicktime events, but just without the button indications. Which in my book, makes it even worse because you still die, but you don't know if it was because you didn't press the right button or if it was just that what you did was wrong. And you have to reload everything and try and try again. LAME!

So, this game didn't have enough of what I like about TR, wich is shooting stuff and exploring. Too much water and motorcycle. There wasn't any feeling of accomplishment or big set pieces.

---------SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT ---- SKIP THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE END

Even the last boss is very boring. All you need to do is naviguate through a series of floating rubble pieces and once you get to her, you kill her through a cutscene. Not satisfying at all.

------------------- END OF SPOILER --------------------

It's an okay game, but I somehow expected better since the previous chapters I enjoyed a lot.

Okay for a bargain game.

SUPER Street Fighter 4

My first thoughts on this was just another way to Rip-OFF the consumer. I still believe it until I see the actually price.

But Capcom are releasing another Street Fighter 4 game with 8 new characters. Why not have it DLC? Well it was said that theres too much of a difference between what the new one has to offer and the old one that DLC wouldn't cut it. There are tweaks to the original combat and online play.

Really?! tweaks that warrant a new game?! Its all bullshit!! I'm sure there will be new modes and more extra costumes for you to buy. But Capcom assures the consumer that this game will not be full price like the first one and there will be a great surprised added in that the fans should like.

You want to know what surprise I would like? Make the game $20 bucks and I'll buy it. MAKE IT $19.99 and I will buy it. No, no,....don't try to sell me a $39.99 or $59.99 game. You can stick that up your ass, give it to me for 20 bucks!!

I think lately that gamers are just getting raped with all the DLC which normally would be a secret that one would unlock or already included has as a bonus. But lately they just charge for everything. As long has people continue to buy into all this crap, its not going to change.

Batman is still the shining gem in all this. A great introductory price and 2 DLC packages that are free. Don't just continue to rape the consumer, give back every once in a while. Show us gamers that you care, even if it is lies, its still nice to hear that we look pretty.

Little Big Planet - Watchmen Characters

I am always surprised how much fun I have playing online with friends. There are some great levels that are just hilarious and fun to play. I'm glad that its the game that it is. Something that you can pick up every now and then and play with a group of friends and have a blast.

So here is the next little package that will be released for the the LBP costumes. The popular Watchmen series. Personally, I still like the Ghostbuster pack. But I ain't buying clothes for a little guy for $1.99.

Anyway, for fans of LBP and the book, its a great little gimmick!

Yet Another "F" Up with MUA 2

This has to be the biggest ass rape.

So I joined an online game started by Pacroid's own contributor ,Ian. He started the game and I joined HIS game. But my game ask me to choose a save slot. I guess to keep track of our online progress. Which doesn't make sense, because its his single player game we are joining.

Isn't this the big thing, Friends drop in and drop out of your game?!

MY ASS!!!! The game starts up and the first thing it does is auto save.....wait, what?!....its doing what now....auto?

So this is a new auto save, that is saving in the new slot that you made me choose to select a save spot?! Right?! A different auto save than the same auto save slot where my SINGLE PLAYER GAME IS!?

THAN WHAT IS THE FUCKING POINT OF MAKING ME CHOOSE A SAVE SLOT IF YOU ARN'T GONNA USE THE SAVE SLOT THAT'S SELECTED?!!!

THIS MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE?!!!! WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?!!! Who is responsible for this, they need their God Blessed Head kicked in.

It was my first time Joining a online game and it auto saves over my single player game. WHY?!!!

It does tell you that you will lose auto save data if you start a new game. This isn't a new game, I am just joining a friend, online, you know, just dropping in for a quick play and then dropping out, easy, right?!I guess you could say, its my own fault. I should have saved after ever play anyway. But that's what auto save is, you come back and click, continue and it picks up from where you left off. It gives you a false sense of security with your game. Something that works in EVERY OTHER GAME.

Needless to say, I lost ALL my single player game. Thank you Activision, you continue to shine bright in my asshole!

Haze - PS3

What we don't know about most games is what goes on behind the scenes. Why were things made the way they are, why did a game turn out has bad has it did or good has it did. What are the factors in what makes a game what it is from BEHIND THE SCENES.

Well I know a guy who worked with Free Radical while it went through all its turmoil and ended up closing. We talked quite a bit about "HAZE" and why it ended up being the game that it is and not the game that the company wanted it to be.

It starts right on the cover, with the number of players that play online being wrong. It says 2-16 on the box but apparently that's wrong. Apparently the whole reason for being the underwhelmed game that it is, is because the developer pushing for deadlines. Not wanting to wait for things to be done. Like some little kid screaming, "I want it now, I want it now!!"

And not matter what industry you are in, we all know how things turn out when they are rushed and not given the proper amount of time to get things done. So knowing what I did, I was super excited to play this game and get my thoughts on this. Mainly because if you go online to most all reviews sites and they ALL shit on the game of how horrible it is. So knowing what I know now, will I have the same experience that most review sites have?!

So after playing this game, I must admit I laughed my ass of in places. The weirdest and strangest things would happen. The dialogue, oh good god, it was just horribly bad, so much so that I just chuckled at the majority of conversations.

But lets not get ahead of ourselves. The game is a normal FPS, nothing wrong with that. I really like the ability to get ammo of your dead enemies. The play dead option is really original when you are almost dead. So for the most part, its your standard FPS, we've all played them, what's wrong with that?!

But after the conversation with my friend, this game is bang on for a game with the feel of not being finished. So many bugs and just insane things happening that made me laugh. So let me make a list of weird things that had happened.

CRAZY SHIT IN HAZE

1) Who needs Land
While driving in my buggy after a reload, the game reloaded, but there was no ground. Just sky all around me. I couldn't see me or the buggy, just sky. And when I drove, there were dirt tire tracks in the sky. so I hopped out of the buggy and I didn't land on invisible land, I went straight through. I fell and fell until the game decided I had fallen too much and died. lol, That was pretty funny. This bug was popular, I had it happen 3 times, all on driving levels.

2)My Finger is the Gun
One point my buddies were all around me, but none of them had weapons. Now they all had there arms in the position has if there was a weapon there, like it was invisible. But no gun, so I wanted to see how this would play out. Would they shoot invisible guns or would they just point and nothing happen. Well we moved along and then get to some enemies, I take flank next to my guys and watch has the fire fight erupts. All my guys raise their invisible guns and ..........
they all die. Apparently the game told them that they had to pretend they had guns. I enjoyed this bug alot. It happened only once, but it lasted the whole level.

3) Quick Growing Grass
When enemies pop up in the distance, its gives you that little indication that something moved. But the very last level, all the grass on the level would sprout up in front of me has I ran. It was like the old GTA, where geometry would just pop in the closer you got to it. But were still pretty far away to begin with.Well the same thing here, but instead of buildings, its little bundles of grass popping up all around me. It was funny and unnerving, I wasted a few too many bullets on grass bundles thinking it was a head.

4)Stationary Guns arn't Literal
Every gun post that I came too didn't have firing animation. Yes, I could control the gun and bullets would come out, but the actually gun didn't have any movement. By this I mean, the bullet belt didn't move, there was no gun casings, nothing. It was like getting a stick that fired deadly bullets.

5)Zooming Missiles
If you use the bazooka, missile launcher, what ever it is. And you are standing behind some cover and you put your cross hairs on a target where the cross hairs are touching the cover. Don't shoot because you will shoot the cover and you will kill yourself. But to get around this, just zoom in. That's right, I didn't move the cross hairs up, but because I zoomed in and now the cross hairs were past the cover, I could now fire and not blow myself up.

6)Me Speaka Good Words, arrrggggghhhhhhh!!!
God, the script for this is awful. After spending no more than 2 min with my HAZE squad I wanted to kill them myself. The 2 numbskulls who said "Skoosh" every time they liked something . All the Haze characters acted like, if you gave the entire hillbilly south weapons of mass destruction and told them they each get 4 strippers for each bad guy they kill. INSERT KILLBILLY JOKE!!
Then when I finally got over to the rebel side. Throughout the rest of the game, all they did every few min was remind me of my promise to the rebel leader. "REMEMBER YOUR PROMISE!!!" over and over. God, the script made me want to kill all my teammates.

Oh there was this one part where a big speech was just told my the rebel leader then outta nowhere one of his soilder goes up to him and say,"Sir, I'm scared" But it was done the way a little kid would go up to a parent and say that he doesn't want to get a needle. It was a riot.

Those were the funny bits. Then there were things that I would have like to seen, but again, not enough time to do what they had to do, so you get what you get.

The SERIOUS lack of variety of weapons is sad. Same goes for the enemies. You get shot gun, machine gun, sniper, flamethrower, bazooka, and pistol. This is the standard in all games, what everyone wants, is to get that COOL, specific weapons that really defines a game. There was nothing like that here, again, probable due they didn't have time to put that stuff in. Same comment goes for the enemies, you fight the 3 same enemies throughout the entire game. You want to see something new, but it never happens.

The enemy AI ranges from BANG your dead, to me walking around them and they not noticing me until I punch them in the head. Its all over the place.

Overall, if I didn't get the inside scoop, I would have shit on the game aswell. But after hearing the inside. This game reaks of having not enough time to get it done. Everything could have been fixed with more time and money. Both of which Free Radical weren't given. So out of all honesty, I can't recommend playing this game, Not because its so bad its awful. But because you are playing an unfinished game. No body every said, "here, go play at that playground, its not done, but we don't care, we need people in it now,"

Meanwhile the playground has swings hanging by one rope, the monkey bars is now just monkey and there's no see in the saw. So being fair with the score, I can't rate what is not done.

HAHAHAAHAHAHAH, after watching the trailer, it looks like what the game should have been. Even the voice there is cooler than the voice they give you in the game. The voice in the game reminds me Woody Allen.

Introductions are in order ... Part 2

Okay, continuing my journey through videogameLand. I'll speed it up, so that I can get to some game reviewing and stop procrastinating.

After a few years on the Colecovision, I got introduced to a beast that would change my gaming life and the one of millions throughout the world as well. The NES. I won't go rambling about this console. You know what it is.

I got my NES secondhand, payed all by my hard-earned money. A whole 100$ for it! Now that I think about it, I wonder what the sale price for a new system was back then. But I didn't care! I had my NES and could play Zelda, Super Mario Bros and all that jazz! I even subscribed to Nintendo Power and spent HOURS studying the maps and tips in it.

And that is where I learned about this wonder of wonders. The SUPER NES!!! I had to have it. So, when it was finally released in Canada after all the rumours, shortages and tribulations, I pooled my money so that I could acquire it. Oh, the hours I spent playing Super Mario World!

At the same time, I was using the PC as a gaming machine. I loved all the Sierra Quest games. Heck, this is where I learned a lot of English AND typing. Because they were still text entry games back then. Playing games on 15 floppies. Yes sir!
I remember when they came up with the Cd-ROM. I would go to the computer store and stare longingly at them. No way in the world would I ever be able to use this futuristic contraption, much less afford it. I would stay on floppies forever. I now laugh at nineteen year old me.

This paved the way for the Sony Playstation for me. Today, those graphics are unbearable, but back then it was wonderful! Oh, the startles I got from the raptors in Tomb Raider!

Then, to make a long story short came the PS2 and currently, the PS3.
But by this time, I was an adult and video games were not occupying so much of my time anymore. In fact, there was a long stretch where I didn't actively play lots of games.

I think that now, I've struck a happy balance.

Should I buy Halo 3: ODST?

I'm a fan of Halo 3 and I still play online from time to time. It wasn't the greatest game in the world but I did enjoy it and still have a lot of fun playing. When I heard that Halo 3 was getting an expansion to it's campaign I though "awesome! Sounds like a fun time." but then I heard they turned it into a full game all of it's own I though "well.... maybe... still sounds like fun though."

So as you can see I'm a bit on the fence about getting this game, so what better way to make up my mind then read a bunch of "reader reviews" from sites such as IGN.

from GentleManne
Halofags get what they expected

I can already tell I'm going to enjoy this guys review. Nothing like a good insult to get my attention.

It's ratings have all been spectacularly high, as many unintelligent people play the game, and websites don't want to lose their viewers. It received a 10/10 from BRO, as well as an 11/10 from SD.

Ouch.... so if I play THIS game I'm stupid... hmmmm... something to think about before buying. I don't want to be too stupid. I do need my basic motor functions to eat and poop and stuff. Hopefully if I do get the game I'll retain some knowledge of my humanity and still be able to wipe properly...

It will take a normal person about one hour to play through the entire campaign, which is comparable to the game Portal (Valve's innovative puzzle masterpiece). However, it lacks the humor and depth of the puzzle game, and instead insists on calling upon a player's ability to hold down the right trigger. Though really, it doesn't matter. After all, you play as a SPACE MARINE.

If I buy this game it's not another completely different game?? But what if my stupid brain forgets about portal?? Ahh this is too confusing... so i wonder if he likes it...

I give this game a 0/10. It's an unimaginative piece of trash. Anyone who believes that I am some sort of butthurt PS3 fanboy is wrong. I'm just a sensible person.

Guess not... so there's one for not getting the game... but wait it's not out yet... did this guy even play it?!

This one seems Promising. GET THIS NOW!!!!!!! by Dingglewart_Fart_man

I know I can count on this guys review. Very enthusiastic with a great name.... this guy's a class act all the way around!

September 19, 2009 - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He does make an interesting argument. Instead of typing a well thought out review he must be playing the game. He doesn't have time to type crap when there's fun to be had so it must be a really good game... right?? Lets read on...

Its 2007 all over again...for the 360... by EmissarySiskoDS9

So far so good. 2007 was a great year for me! And it was also a great year for gaming. So this guy must really like Halo... right??

Back in 2007 Halo 3 was released, and the PS3 "big guns" bombed (Heavenly Sword, and Lair).

..... so tragic....

Now 2 years later, it seems Microsoft has gotten very lazy, releasing an expansion of Halo 3 for $60. It has the same engine, and same gameplay as before. Also there are no great exclusives in sight for the 360.

hmm... he does make an interesting point. The game does seem like a Halo game.... I mean it is a Halo game, but it's too much Halo and maybe not enough Halo.... I'm getting confused...

On the other hand, the Sony has released a cheaper "slim" PS3, and has sequels to several award winning exclusives, ie,

Uncharted 2 (not an expansion)
R&C:Crack in time (not an expansion)
NG Sigma 2 (not an expansion)
Tekken 6 (not an expansion)
Gran Turismo 5 (not an expansion, or a prologue)
Demon Souls (not an expansion, or a sequel)
GOW Collection (a rehash of the prior games, and priced appropriately for the upcoming GOW 3)

wait... what about your Halo review.. this is just a list of PS3 games in the Xbox 360 section of the website. Well so much for that review...

IGN IS REATRDED by mazza453

I see nothing wrong with this title.

THE GAME ISN'T RELEASED YET, BUT YOU LET PEOPLE REVIEW IT???

seriously you fucktards you're opening the floodgates for halo noobs to rate 10 constantly, and when it inevitably flops the reader average will be high and you wont look like complete twats.

He's not a wordsmith but he can see into the future. You see the line "when it inevitably flops" That means he's seen the future and it doesn't look so good for Halo or IGN.

So there you have it. There are plenty more reader reviews at IGN.com and they all make good and bad points. The game does seem like an expansion that's been packaged but I guess I'll have to pick it up and report back later. After all it's just a game and if I don't like it I'll just sell it to somebody who will. So whichever system, game, or games float your boat, happy playing!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 - PS3

I loved the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I really enjoyed the X-men Legends games, 1 and 2. All I can say about MUA 2, is I WANT TO LOVE IT, but has much has I WANT to like this game. All it does is make me very angry. For the following reasons.

Summary, if you are going to make a sequel to a game that is 5 years old. Shouldn't you improve and add more things to the already popular title?! Sure the character models look great, but the level designs...I'm getting ahead of myself.

1) Character Abilities.
In the first MUA, each character had 7 powers and one Super Ability. From these 7 abilities you could equip 4 of them, change them up if needed. If you wanted to use more defensive powers or be more aggressive with your powers. Point being, you could change the combination of all your powers.

In MUA2, you get 4 powers. That's it. No customization of the powers you like. You are stuck with your powers. In most cases, the powers are so similar in amount of damage done. That is really no point to put exp points into powering them up. Instead, find a power that works best for that character and max that one out. For Juggernaut I used 2 of his powers, the stampede ability and his fist spin. The other 2 were kinda pointless, they just did the same thing has the first two.

What they did add was power buffs. Each character gets 6 buffs. You start with 2 and then get another 2 when you decided which side you choose. So you get things like, more focus points, more power to melee attacks. But it just doesn't feel right. Its just pump points into random slot number one. The customization of the characters are lost, and this is just the beginning of what they dumbed down in this game.

2)Character Outfits.
In the first MUA, each character had 4 extra outfits that they could choose from. Besides just looking cool and keeping the gamer interested by having their favorite hero look different. Each outfit gave the character a bonus or two. So Wolverine's Astonishing outfit increased his health regenerating by 2% per second and caused Bleed damage to his opponents. Where the Classic outfit increased his Claw Damage and Critical Strike %. That's just to give an example.

In MUA2, each character gets 1, THAT'S ONE extra outfit. This extra new outfit offers no bonuses. It just looks pretty, or in some cases down right stupid.

3)Character Ability Mapping.
In the first MUA, on the main game screen where you characters were. Your team were in the bottom corner. Here you could see who you were controlling and what powers you had mapped to each button. So you could tell what powers you have to each button by the picture that was displayed in the circle. So Thor's Hammer Toss when mapped to the Triangle button was displayed has a hammer with speed lines. So there was some indication of,"Oh yeah, that's my hammer power". It helped to give the player an idea of what they had in what button.

In MUA2, there is nothing. The character that you are controlling and the powers displayed around him is non existent. Its just the X, triangle, circle, and square. So it makes it kind hard to know, what power I have on what button. So quite often I find myself, hitting pause and going to the character info stage to find out what power I have on what button. What does it do again? So the only way around this is to remember all 96 powers and then remember, which power is on which button. So more often than not, I just end up hitting all the buttons one after the other until I found the one I am looking for. This boggles the mind why they did this. Its so stupid.

4) Level Layout
This is so awful. Don't make levels that it looks like I can go somewhere, then just not make it accessible. This is POOR level design! There's one point where you are fighting outside in Washington and I am next to some stairs. But I can't go up them, or standing next to a alley way, but I can't go down it. If you don't want the player to go in a certain area, then block it off with REAL THINGS. Don't just have that visible wall pop up. This day and age, that should be long gone. Getting to the end of a map that looks like I can keep going, but for some reason, I can't move forward. Apply that to not a giant map, but corridors and hallways. Its Laziness!!!

5)Fight Mechanics
Yes, it is fun to punch things. But in MUA there were enemies that you could only get past, by tripping them, or uppercuts, or stuns. Which was done by hitting a combination of X and O.
Now MUA2 has this, but it doesn't seem to utilize this, its more or less another way to punch your bad guys. It doesn't feel has if it has any effect, if you want you could just punch your way through the whole thing and not use trip, stun or uppercut once.

Where the last one, it felt like it was effective. You weren't getting past these bad guys until you stopped button mashing and actually did some calculated button mashing. Even the upper cut, could be followed up by a jump and hitting the guy in the air in the last one. But nope, not in the new one. Lets get rid of all the tiny tidbits that make up the whole.

6)Team Control
In the first MUA, I could tell my teammates to be aggressive, defensive or neutral. They could attack my target only, or attack any target that appears or only attack when attacked themselves. But NOT in the MUA2, your teammates do whatever they want. Lets take away another one of those little tidbits that make the whole so enjoyable.

7)Equipable Items
In MUA, each character has there own slot for wearing gear that can boost their stats even further. There were even character specific items that boost their specific powers.

In MUA 2, your TEAM gets 3 slots for items. So at first I thought each character got 3 items slots. Which I thought was really good. After playing the game for a bit I realizied that its not individual character slots. Its for the whole team. There are ALOT of items to get with a wide vairety of abillites. BUT YOU CAN ONLY equipe 3 of them. So another little tidbit that pushes the individualism of each character is now gone and it replaced with laziness. Untill I got to the very end of the game. I had gain more Exp badges, I didn't use anything else and I got through the game fine. Which just goes to show that unless your fighting the final boss, you really don't need to adjust them. Also I played the game on Hard, so it wasn't like,"Well you played the game on normal or easy, so of course the boost won't be felt has much".

I have a really good reason has to why they did what they did with this game. It's Activision and there greed to get has much money out of the monkeys has they can.(monkey's is Activisions words, not mine)

Why don't we have more outfits for the characters?!, This is why, Not only do they plan on releasing new characters has DLC. They plan on releasing outfit bundles for the existing characters. Which would explain why they don't have attributes added to the outfits. Its easier and cheaper to add new skins to existing character builds then to add attributes to them which will alter the existing character code causing more problems and testing on their part.

The extra outfit that they do have. I guess I have been out of the loop of comic's for too long, but they look awful. I played the game has Gambit, juggernaut, iceman and jean grey. And all their extra outfits made them look like they should be in some kind of S&M porn.

Same goes for the Bland and uninspired levels. So they can release more levels that fans will recognize from the comics, such has Asteroid M, Gesnosha or Atlantis. The first one had great levels. This one is so...just boring.

What I don't understand is the reviews that I keep reading and listening too. Critics, saying ," There's nothing new, but if you like the first, you will like this one"

FUCK YOU!!, the first one and this piece of shit is like comparing, "If you like eating pancakes, then you enjoy eating shitcakes!" The first one and this crap, doesn't even compare.

I really , REALLY!!! wanted to like this game. I was excited about it, couldn't wait to play it. Then the game started and it didn't feel right, the style, the gameplay, the customization. It was like I was waiting for the good parts to start happening and they never did.

If you watch all the videos of this game, the big and ONLY thing they really are pushing here is the FUSION POWERS!!. Each character can combine his power with all the other characters. Some are cool, others are lame. It is a nice addition. Again, adding one thing doesn't mean you take away all the other stuff.

I am a marvel fan, I wanted to like this game. I really like all the obscure characters they added to the roster, THAT I really enjoyed and controlling your favourite hero or villain is FANtisfying. But the shit and or lack of greatness that they removed or replaced with a half ass attempt is just a slap in the face. This is gonna be one of those games where they will keep releasing all this extra DLC and fans will buy it. Infact there are probable characters that I will buy. I really like nightcralwer and colossus. And if they release those, I would probable buy them. But this game is utter and disappointing shit.

Is it fun to run around and punch and kick and blast the baddies with your favourite Marvel person, yes, but not like this. One does not warrant the other no matter how much I hit the X button. I downright disagree with every site out there that says that this is a GOOD game. Fun in parts,YES, but overall, SHITTERY.

To make myself feel better about this overpriced purchase. I justify it by saying I paid $80 for Batman(Well worth every penny) and I payed $38.83 for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. This game is sad, it makes me sad. I was expecting so much more and instead got a cold plate of leftovers.

Modern NES Games

Here are some great mock up of modern games done in the old NES style.

Super Mario Music

I thought this was interesting and certainly made me smile. It's amazing how much music there was in those games, even back to the original SM. Classics!

Game Giveaway - Marvel Trading Card Game - DS

YAYYYY!!!, Game giveaways are fun.

This is a card game game. I guess like Magic the Gathering. I've only ever played 2 other types of these games. The starwars one back in 1997 and the YuGio with Seth. Both were decent enough to learn, they weren't hard to learn and within 20-30 min you could be playing and having fun. So this is the first card game I played on a video game system.

Why am I giving away this game.? ..............................I don't know how to play it! I've spent over 3 hrs reading, doing the ingame tutorials (5 times) and I just don't understand all the rules.

When I read it, it sounds simple enough, but then to implement it, all these other "special" rules come into play.I go through each step and when I think i know what I have to do, it won't let me select the cards that I believe I have to play in order for play to continue. So I select an option that it DOES let me do. And what happens?!....I lose!!

I never even made it past the first level, i kept dieing because I didn't understand what I had to do. I would go back and read and again, it would seem simple. But I think its one of those things that the book and tutorial doesn't really tell you everything. Why can't I play this card now, it says that's what I am suppose to do.

So after much deliberation, i put the game down. I wasn't having fun with it because I didn't what I was doing.

So unlike the last two games that I gave away because it was crap and I thought others deserved to see how crappy those games were. I don't think this game is crap. I just don't know how to play it. I'm sure if someone sat down with me and explained in detail all the rules and what I should do when "what" happens. But trying to understand this game hurts my head and I"m not having fun.

I bought it because I like marvel and I wanted to try something new. But it totally backfired on me. So I think this type of game will be much appreciated by someone else.

Its not a bad game, I just don't know how to play it, therefore my interest is lost and I really don't want to continue with it. A game shouldn't be a(wait 6 hrs and you will vaguely learn how to play the game) I COULDN'T GET PAST THE FIRST LEVEL. It wasn't even the level, it was the trial game that Professor X wanted to test me with to see ,"If you are worthy".

I am not worthy, maybe someone else is.

So like before, if you are interested in getting this game. Just make a comment on this post saying you would like this game. I will draw your name out of a bucket and mail you the game.
I'll check the cost to mail something overseas, if its not the price of what I paid for the game to mail it there, then by all means, respond.

Pacman Chair

Although this is a cool looking chair it doesn't look comfortable at all. You need to be further back into its throat, more stretch room.

Juggernaut is What Now?! - Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

When I first heard that MUA2 was coming out I was pretty excited. I even seen some of the characters that were going to be in the game even before they were released to the public. If I told you how I saw them, I have to kill you, really!

From day 1, I have to say that my favorite character so far that I heard would be joining the roster was Juggernaut. He was my favorite in X-men Legends 2 and I can't wait for this one.

So I assumed he would be part of the game UNTIL I found out that they were releasing him has a downloadable character that you could only get by pre-ordering the game. Well, I rushed out to book my pre-order so I could get my code to download him. I'd be damn if I was going to pay for him.

Then last Friday I see him on the PSN store for download for $1.99. So I was like, "phew, I'm glad I pre-ordered, cause it would suck to buy him". Then I checked the store on Sunday and he was FREE!

Whats the deal?! Hes with the game, hes not with the game, you can only get him with a pre-order, you can buy him, hes free to download.

I blame this on Activision in a plow to push sales, for people who MUST have DLC. People like me, but I am glad I waited and got him for free anyway. But boy, would I be pissed if I would have bought him then to only find out he's free. What kind of marketing is this? Confuse the consumer, fuck with their minds. I REALLY DETEST Activision!! The game alone is $80. Now add on all the extra characters they are going to release after the game comes out and new maps, etc.

I heard of promotions where they would sell things at a discount after its been released for some time, but not after 3 days! It doesn't make sense. I'll give you my money Activision, but its gonna be shit money, I wiped my balls with it, I wiped my dogs balls with it and the neighbours dog balls with it and infected it with the mumps!

Introductions are in order ... Part 1

I've been working on my first game review for a while and it's not quite ready yet. Not as I'd like it to be.

So, I thought I'd take this time to introduce myself and give a little of my gaming history to maybe give a better idea of what type of gamer I am.

First for this post, my history with video games.

My first video game experience was with the birth of coin arcades ... which shows my age. *cough cough* I remember when Donkey Kong and Asteroids came out in machines. I was NEVER allowed to go there though, because that's where the bad kids hung out.

A few years after that, I got my first system! A shiny ColecoVision in all it's glory, with it's own Donkey Kong! Wow!!! That was around 1984.
I had Donkey Kong, Zaxxon, AdventueQuest, Congo Bongo, the Smurfs and many others ...
My neighbour had an Atari (can't remember which one exactly) so we alternated playing at each other's house. I still can remember how HARD it was to play Donkey Kong and how long it took me to finish only the first stage! But I did it and even discovered the secret ladder glitch all by myself. That was quite a thrill! No easy internet for gamers back then!

Then, after a few years of that, I got a second hand Vic-20. I had some games on cassette tape (no disk drives yet). It had an awesome mini-golf game! You had to get this square into that other square, while navigating through the other squares on screen ...

Then, I got my pennies and dimes together and with the help of my dad, I partially financed a Commodore 64!!!! It had 5 1/4 floppy disks (when they ACTUALLY were floppy) and it's powerful multi-channel midi sounds! I would say this to be around 1986 from memory.
Oh, the hours I spent playing such classics as Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken, Labyrinth, Jumpman, Paperboy and other fantastic games! That crazy Nurse Edna in MM literally would startle me so much in the kitchen that I would be terrified to go in here. I HATED her!

Here's a video commercial for the C-64!

Well, that was long-winded enough for now. Part 2 will have more exciting console evolution.

And as a special "treat", a complete walkthrough of the Smurfs on the ColecoVision. I kicked butt at the game. But how crazy is it that the entire game can be played through a Youtube video in a couple of minutes. That is seriously the WHOLE game.

Getting Freeflow Combat Trophy in Batman - PS3

So trophy hunting can be a trying experience. It can be a grind, a remembering of pattern, a devoting your life to doing something over and over until you get it, or just plain luck!

So getting all the trophies for Batman is quite challenging. And for all those that post that they are easy to get. Take that with a grain of salt because most likely the people who make those comments are kids who do nothing else but play that game for hrs on end or adults with no lives.
(I'm not saying that anyone who gets all the trophies are either kids or the later, just that people who say,"Its easy")

I wish I could set up a system for recording my own gameplay and do a voice over for it to tell the details of exactly what I am doing. NOT just posting myself doing the challenge. I hate those videos, "Look, here is a video of me doing it".

So the latest trophy I was gunning for was Batman's, get a perfect freeflow combo using all of Batman's abilities. There are tons of people telling how to do this. But so many leave out small details that can make getting this trophy impossible.

How did I get this. I spent 1hr and 45 min and a lot of luck. Yes, luck! I choose the challenge, intensive care extreme. If you miss a strike while doing this or get hit, just restart. You will need all of them to be tip top health to make it to the end.

The min number of hits to get all strikes in is 9. But you don't have to do each one after the other, you can throw more punches or counters or leaps in, has long has it doesn't break your combo counter. There are so many help hints out there that list all the things that you have to do and in what order works best, but don't tell you that you don't have to do each one after the other. If a throw doesn't present itself after a counter, then just punch and keep the combo going until you do get a opening.

What helped me was to start off with a grapple, by hitting R2 twice and MAKE SURE YOU HIT one of the guys that you drag towards yourself with the grapple in order to keep the combo going or it will fail. I made the mistake of countering an attacker or hitting a different guy and ended up not getting the combo.

From here on do a punch and counter when it presents itself, then a evade (which is X that jumps over a dude) and then a stun, but to make sure that after you do a stun, that you punch the guy that you stunned, other wise its easy to break the combo again.

After that you should have a throw built up, use one of the two available. Then keep the combo going with punches or counters until you build up your throw again and use the other throw variation.

Its after this one that you want to do your ground take down, (R2+triangle). But be careful that there are no goons that can interrupt you during your take down. Too many times I did it while goons were standing or getting ready to stand and interrupting the ground take down.

After that batman stands and tap L1 to throw the batarang.

This is really hard, there's nothing easy about it. I restarted whenever I took a hit or broke the combo. Other wise I have it built all up again but when I get ready to throw my batarang, all the guys would be lieing on the ground and I lose the combo.

So, its alot of trial and error and luck. Every time I did it, the enemies moves different, different enemies attacked at different times.

But I did find a video that was really good. Its exactly how I would do a video, by explaining what I am doing at what point, when do I press each button. These guys finally got it right. Its how help videos should be made.

And this is the crap that I am talking about. Videos showing themselves doing the challenge. How does this help me?! I think people just like showing ,"LOOK, I did it..see mom!"

Resistance 2 Online Competitive Update!

Getting a little worried if I will ever get the 10,000 kills trophy. The last week or so, every time I log on and do a search for game rooms to join. 75% of the time, it comes back with no rooms found.

Now I can go into non-competitive rooms. There are always lots of people there. But trying to find a regular room, is getting more difficult. Usually it says, no rooms found or when it does find a room, not enough people join to start the game.

Has of yesterday, I have 5307 kills. Still a ways too go! I only hope people keep playing this online. Seeing has there's so many other FPS online games out that are better, I don't know if I will be able to make it to 10,000 before people stop playing it altogether.

My History with Batman

I 'd figure I give a little blurb about all the batman games I have played over the years. So this is NOT a complete list of ever Batman games made. Just the ones that I have played that either starred Batman or have had Batman in them.

I guess the first one was the one that we all probable started with and that is Batman for the NES. This is hard has hell and forced you to do it over again and again until you got remotely good. I didn't own this game, but I rented the hell out of it.

The lady at the store would even hold it for me on weekends because I told her I was trying to beat it. How nice of her, I don't remember her name, but lets call her Betty. That's a nice Batman name
That was my dabble in the NES dept. Batman returns, I remember being a hit with all my friends, it just looked great. It was a fantastic beat em up and I was tickled pink when I finally finished this game. The many hrs I put into it, I remember thinking, this is all about placement. You could beat anyone on this game depending on where you were standing on the screen. Although I try that shit now and I die.

Batman and Robin, this one hurt my head. I would get up to a certain point and die. Get frustrated and put it away for awhile. Come back to the game later only to forget what I got frustrated about in the first place only to be reminded of it 10 min later repeat this cycle.

This was stupid hard. It looked amazing, I loved the style, I just hated dieing all the time. Playing has robin was fun too, but it didn't make it any easier.

Task Force I was really excited about. I was finally going to be able to play has all my favourite DC heroes. Boy was I disappointed. I couldn't pull off the special moves, the story was stupid and the same for all the hero's. And I remember the controls feeling awful.

So I think that says something the game when you remember the controls being bad. It just felt clunky, like a punch would be delayed or not enough frames of animation. I didn't like it, this game killed my superhero fighting days until Capcom released the marvel series.

It would be a good long while till I played another batman game again. But vengeance was a nice come back to the series. Now I know alot of critics hated on the game. But I really liked it, there was nothing that I hated about it. I actually played through this twice when I got it. That is unheard of for me when I finish a game. There was nothing to unlock and no trophies, I just enjoyed the gameplay. So suck it!

I was super excited for Justice league Heroes. I just finished the X-men series of these types of games, so I was in good spirits. Although its a OK game, something was lacking and to this day I don't know what it is. It just didn't feel has good has the X-men legends series. What was missing, I just don't know. It was OK, but just not what I was expecting. I still had fun, so I guess that's whats important.
Next, was the Lego series. These are just plain mindless fun. I don't know anyone who doesn't like these games. No thinking, enough to keep you entertained and in my opinion, the best use of the Lego franchise to date or maybe Starwars. Anyway, still a great game. Go look in the archives for my full thoughts on this.

Next, and again, I was really excited about this one aswell. Being a fan of both MK and DC. But alas, it wasn't meant to be. It was a OK game, not bad. The fatalities really took a hit in this series. That has to be one of the biggest disappointments for me in this series. Again, check the archives for my full thoughts on this title.

And finally, the best for last. THIS GAME HITS BATMAN ON THE NOSE! Then he get mad and break your face. Actually I don't think he get mad, but still break your face. This is the game that if anyone is going to play a batman game they should play this one. This is the Zeus of all Batman games. When your done, you'll want to climb a building with your batclaw but more than likely you'll fall and break your stupid bone.

There you have it, my history with Batman. I know there are plenty of Batman games I've missed. I just didn't want to play them or couldn't find them at the time. I remember a PC game that was advertised in comic books that I wanted to play so bad. But this was back when the only people who owned a PC were the rich kids. So I could only use my imagination, lets go kids. OFF to imagination batman, where you fart where you burp and burp where you fart.

If you don't know where that saying came from, then "yes, I just made it up. Stupid!"
